I have to reinstall windows 7 Ultimate 64bit on my laptop.

But the problem is Firefox(ver 19.0.2).I have lot of bookmarks, addons, history and settings.

which i don't want to lose.how can i save all these things and get back or transfer to new windows.

any suggestions would be appreciated.

thanks

Update: I use Mozbackup which work 100% fine.i got all my bookmarks, history, passwords, cookies, forms filling data and settings, etc correctly.addons i reinstalled.now everything working fine.

Alternatively (just in case if Mozbackup failed) i backup old firefox profile folder and copy paste all bookmarks and write down all addons names on notepad.

thanks for you guys.

Have you tried out Xmarks yet? It will save all of your bookmarks even if you do reformat.

Use moz-backup to back and restore whole profile

direct link from developer site: http://mozbackup.jasnapaka.com/files/1.5.2-beta/MozBackup-1.5.2-beta1-EN.zip

or

as Ambrocious suggest, install xmarks (here), it can sync bookmarks, history, tabs

Or

go to bookmarks> show all bookmark,

select any item, then control+a (to select all)

import and backup > export bookmark as html

94592282013-03-24_22_46_29-____Library__

and right down add-on names

But for best performance, do a clean install and then install add-ons as required

Firefox became sluggish with old profile

FEBE addon. Always export bookmarks to html and save it on flash drive etc.

I also recommend FEBE. This will backup Firefox as it appears, then reapply EVERYTHING in Firefox just as it was when you ran the tool to backup your profile.

like unknownasphyxiated said, no need third party programs, just cpoy/paste profile folder (by default in: ..\Users\<username>\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\ )

If anyone prefer copy-paste profile

firefox is quite improved

main ribbon > help > Troubleshooting Information

(or about:support in address bar)

under Application Basics, profilefolder:show folder (4th)

a folder containing profile files opens,

now, close firefox and backup profile

[and just press reset firefox, then confirm reset, if you got time

just kiding. don't do this]

Please, read your PM; MozBackup - OK, MailBrowserBackup pretty much reliable; you can save your bookmarks in FF following next steps: History>Show All History> Import and Backup> Backup; if you want to restore your backup you go to (obviously) restore>choose file; FEBE + CLEO addons are also cool :-)

Best Regards

MozBackup actually just arhiv files from profile folder, pcv file is a zipped archive, feel free to change extension, open with some archiver and look what is in there

Just go to ....

C:\Users\your name\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox and save the Profiles folder.
After reinstall of Windows ...
a) Install Firefox
b) Go to C:\Users\your name\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox and replace the existing Profiles folder with the one you saved earlier.
I've never had any trouble using this method. All your bookmarks and settings will be as they were before the reinstall.

But I do not understand why you do not want to use Firefox Sync service. It's a free service and works on all Firefox versions. And most of all, You can use the Firefox also in 64-bit system. (for example Nightly, Waterfox, Aurora, Pale Moon etc)

Firefox Sync is not a backup solution, especially the addons and their configs are all gone. MozBackup is top-notch, no crazy folder jumping, copy&pasting around, it's an easy point&click adventure and also for novice users. The best thing is, you can backup and restore a bunch of individual files and/or settings, i don't even know all of those with their specific names. You can also use MozBackup files to carry around as much browser configurations and browser setups as you want (e.g. as Mods), one click and everything is back to original state. :)
