The 'Galaxy S' branding has always defined Samsung's top-tier Android handsets, but how have they changed over the years? An infographic breaks down these finer details with numerous sources.

Samsung’s phones are arguably the most recognisable of any running the Android OS. Bearing the ‘Galaxy’ moniker, the phones have one of the best brand images built up, perhaps falling second only to devices from Cupertino, California.

The Galaxy SIII has been a resounding success during its lifespan, but it wasn’t a sudden new competitor: it was the progression of Samsung’s flagship Galaxy S models, and its time in the limelight is coming to an end due to the announcement of the Galaxy S4.

While some may argue that the ‘Galaxy’ naming has been run into the ground by millions of low-end devices, the same complaint has never been leveled at the Galaxy S models. That one little letter makes all the difference.

Our friends at TopTienMobiel in The Netherlands have put together this infographic that we thought was pretty cool. Take a gander at how the Galaxy S name has been evolving since 2010 below.

the info is incorrect, the LTE S4 has 4 cores not 8(it's 4+4 really, not 8, although I don't think that's necessarily a bad thing, since it's a qualcomm krait. I have come to be very impressed with qualcomm's krait architecture, it is very efficient yet powerful. Krait is able to clock each core individually but samsung's exynos can only clock them all together. So a slight increase in one task can make the exynos suddenly very power hungry
