While we have been hearing quite a bit about Windows Blue, the images you see above are supposedly from the M1 of Windows 9 (unconfirmed). As noted by the post on MicrosoftPortal.net, the M1 build kernel has been given a bump to 6.3 (Windows 8 uses kernel 6.2). In addition, the images are supposedly from Windows 9 build 9319; Windows 8 was build 9200.While this screenshot does not give us much information about the next major installment to the Windows product line, seeing that screenshots have begun to leak is a good sign for those who want a Window into Microsoft’s inner workings. There is currently no timeline for a Windows 9 release but, based on past history, one could hedge that it will be around three years after the release of Windows 8. Of course, with Windows Blue possibly offering up an accelerated launch schedule and push towards Windows 9, the platform could arrive far sooner than we expect. In addition to the build 9319 above, there has also been a posting of a screenshot showing that build 9289 is also in the hands of testers too.It is possible that both of these builds could be Windows Blue or one could be from Windows 9 and the other Blue. Until Microsoft comes clean on the dividing line between the two platforms (don’t hold your breath), enjoy the images and know the builds are in the hands of testers.Of course, this could be an elaborate hoax, so take it with a grain of salt.View: Original Article
nuthut
According to the picture, the eval expires 1/18/14, so my guess wouldbe it would be available before the end of the year, say Christmas time
Karlston
Sorry, but why is this considered to be Windows 9, not just a newer version of Windows 8?A new build and kernel could just mean that Microsoft are starting to do what Apple does with Mac OS X, and keeping their OS downloads/media up to date. In other words this may just become Windows 8 v1.1, or Windows 8.1, or ...

demoneye
all that game w8 , w9 , winblue are all crap , since the most important is what are we doing on the os NOT what os we got , it doesnt matter for most of ppl even consider smart phones what os they got android 1 or android 2 :wtf:

I'm just fed up with Microsoft's dismantling and disposal of the Windows PC operating system; the one that was MADE for a keyboard and mouse. They should have just made Win Blue the Metro UI OS to incorporate all their seamless platform nonsense, and left the standalone PC users alone... maybe give us a new W7 Service Pack to upgrade the kernel with the speedier advantages that W8 offers. nIGHT
In addition to demoneye and JessicaLeigh post, it is what the OS can do for you and not what you can do for your OS that really matters. :tease:

dcs18
maybe give us a new W7 Service Pack to upgrade the kernel with the speedier advantages that W8 offers. You probably wouldn't have made that statement had you been aware of the Windows 8 working. :)Edit:The above response was a very calibrated one made respectfully to a lady - without my usual directness that our menfolk are used to. :)

The only thing that's holding w8's existence is it's speed. Without that, it's complete cr@p. It's M$'s business strategy to get double benefit. First they brings out the cr@p and sells it as many as they can and by the time people finds the cr@p out they promises a new window (w9 or blue). I have been hearing a rumor that windows blue will be the first free windows ever (I hope, it's just a rumor), don't know, what kind of marketing strategy they kept hidden inside the rumor. So, M$ isn't gonna give the speed of w8 to w7 user via service pack update even if they could. And, about the off/on topic thing, you should see your post #10 again.
dcs18
Never fret on whether Microsoft wins or loses, makes profits or losses - be focused only about yourself and your loved ones. I make my bread (and butter) from Microsoft products, not because they are a winner - it's me who knows how to win and capitalize.I don't give a damn about Microsoft's gains - I'd pimp Linux, if I have to (once I know that's the PS what's gonna feed my loved ones.)About the post # 10 you've linked to, it's not off-topic - it's about Windows 9 that figures at the OP. I'm saying again to all of you stop wasting time on something (Windows 9) that does not exist - life is too short, utilize the wasted time in upgrading yourselves, instead.I've got a tutorial on Windows 8 to complete and wasting precious time on such nonsense, here - guys have a screwing time with your gals, if not - wives and if you're not married - just whore around (but stop wasting our time.) JessicaLeigh
Yikes! I thought I was on-topic. I was expanding on what demoneye was saying... just my 2 cents on how I had wished the newest OS had gone if this W9 spotting was nothing more than a pre-build of WB or a future W8 SP1, that's all. I really hope I didn't offend anyone... never my intention at all.

zordon
From XP, Vista / Win 7 went all flashy (aero glass, flip 3D task switching) so needed a beefier graphics card / chip just to operate the OS (assuming you didn't turn these features off), then Windows 8 comes and takes all these things away. M$ pulled a complete 180 on us. How are we as consumers supposed to buy into a vision that they don't even have themselves.</end rant>
