RadioActive
Off the top of mind, I'd suggest the HP Compaq CQ57-458se. I got one for a relative of mine and it's a decent laptop considering how cheap it is (dunno about India though).

majithia23
Dont expect some one to spoon feed you !Get your a@@ to do some googling for yourself !:PDont get me wrong , what i mean is , it would be better if you short list some options and then ask for the best one out of it ! ;)I'd say from personal experience , dont go for HP or Compaq or Acer .Look for Toshiba , Lenovo .I'd recommend ASUS as being the best , but then it wouldn't fit in this budget .Look for some models at Dell . Customize it and you should be able to get a good deal .

Ambrocious
Get a desktop. It lasts longer. Easier to upgrade. Easier to clean, maintain. Doesn't break as often as a laptop. Better ventalation.
calguyhunk
i3 processoR.................PRICE RANGE : 25k-32k.What is your primary requirement? For 32-35K you should get i5 (sandy/ivy), 4GB mem with 1TB storage without Windows :)For regular work/study, I'll suggest you save 10K and get a Pentium B9xx lappy that will serve you well over the next few years or get a quad for the higher end of that budget of your's. i3 is a bit of a "na ghar ka, na ghat ka" (neither here nor there) choice atm ;)FYI - Mine is a 15.6" (1366x768) Lenovo G570 with P6200 and 2GB that I got for only 19K and giving me stellar service :yes:All 15.6" laptops on Flipkart Especially the following Asus models - Lappy1, Lappy2, Lappy3 and Lappy4. Also, this Toshiba model. All i5 15.6" (Sandy and Ivy) lappysEDIT: Personally speaking, it's between the 21K Asus lappy 4 (X55C-SX078D) or the 19K Toshiba model for me
calguyhunk
can u give your view on vostro vs inspiron? i have vostro 2520 in my mind.even checking for inspiron models. k tel me if u have any idea on LENOVO good models.Dell - Wayyy too expensive and mostly focussed on the corporate segment in India rather than the consumer segment :( Lenovo is generally the best choice here in India, but they have increased their prices substantially over the last year, making Asus and Toshiba the best VFM buys ;)

calguyhunk
i use it for watching movies, browsing, photo editing.NO GAMINGAbout 6-8 months ago, a Toshiba model with a P6xxx processor, 2GB RAM and 320/500GB HDD (can't remember) was going for 17K on Letsbuy after discount :) That was before the Rupee got devalued so drastically within such a short span of time :(I was so surprised that I actually took a screengrab of that 'cuz I had a sneaking suspesion that it wasn't about to last :P -

Might be some secret circle of people can ! "Coz , the site has been overtaken by Flipkart and as such doesnt exist on its own ,And then i read , you took a screenshot back then ! :DAnyways , why do you say i3 is a Washerman's dog ? :P
dcs18
It's always a blunder buying a laptop as per brands - suggest to scan through models, not brand. If I were you, I'd buy a model with FreeDOS - no operating system (that saves me from Rs. 4,000/- to 5,000/-) {FreeDOS is scantily available under few sub-builds - gotta put your foot down.}You'll need to be very clear before handing over the moolah; what OS you want to employ and would like to upgrade to, in future:-For example, if you're gonna be using an OS up to Windows 7 and/or will not be upgrading to Windows (9/Blue presumably) and/or will be looking at dual/multi-booting options, you may not want to buy one with an UEFI BIOS (this will the most challenging part - if available.)If you spend hours before the screen, opt for a matte screen.Another parameter is the normal keyboard or the full fledged Accountant's keyboard. R3C0N
Lenovo is very good I have 2 older Laptops and 4 Desktops refurbished from this brand. Never seen a bluescreen.

calguyhunk
Anyways , why do you say i3 is a Washerman's dog ? :PDhobi ka Kutta LOL! :lmao:If I were you, I'd buy a model with FreeDOS - no operating system (that saves me from Rs. 4,000/- to 5,000/-)That ...if you're ... looking at dual/multi-booting options, you may not want to buy one with an UEFI BIOS (this will the most challenging part - if available.)Newer Ivy bridge ones are not available without them to the best of my understanding. (Not sure though) The PDC ones are. Those are his best bet overall. He'll also get to save ~$200 that way ;)Another parameter is the normal keyboard or the full fledged Accountant's keyboard. He's not getting a Mac lol! Nor an overpriced under-performing ultrabook. He's better off getting a regular full featured keyboard IMO. ;) Also, he said -i use it for watching movies, browsing, photo editing.NO GAMINGBTW, @dcs18 - What happened to your 'Avatar' avatar? :P Not speaking Na'vi anymore?
