nsane.forums
In a new interview, Microsoft CEO calls the cloud-based file service Dropbox a "fine little startup" but also won't comment on any plans Microsoft might have to bring Office to the iPad.The launch of Office 2013 and Office 365 Home Premium this week is naturally a big deal for Microsoft. While Office 2013 alone would be a milestone for the company, Microsoft's biggest pitch is really for the new consumer version of Office 365, with its cloud-based features and its yearly subscription.Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer talked about these aspects in a new interview with Businessweek.com, but one of the questions suggested that Microsoft was coming into the cloud business behind other companies. One specific business that was mentioned was Dropbox, which now has 100 million registered users. The comparison didn't seem to sit well with Ballmer, who is quoted as saying:Well, you’ve got to remember, 100 million sounds like a pretty small number to me, actually. We’ve got a lot more Office users. And actually if you even want to go to the cloud, we have a lot of Hotmail and SkyDrive users. I’m not beating on Dropbox. They’re a fine little startup and that’s great.Ballmer also defended the company's recent $1.2 billion acquisition of Yammer, saying that he was "delighted" with the purchase but admitted, "We have a lot of work to do." He completely dodged a question concerning bringing Office to the iPad, stating, "I have nothing to say on that topic."View: Original Article
Administrator DKT27 Posted January 30, 2013 Administrator Share Posted January 30, 2013 Forget about leading a company, he isn't worth being a human being. Infact, he should be on the list of one of the most retarded animals living out there. So there Ballmer. This so called "little startup" currently has more users than your "gamerchanger" and "futuristic" Windows 8.

ffi
I have been a dropbox user for years and a paying customer for almost a year but Ballmer is right, Dropbox is just a small fish, it doesn't even have its own servers(it uses amazon cloud based computing) but dropbox works well, very well, better than any other cloudbased storage. I really do hope one of the big players (google or ms) buys them....

Administrator DKT27 Posted January 31, 2013 Administrator Share Posted January 31, 2013 Is there anyone who calls it a "big startup" ? :oNo, cause it isn't a "startup" in a first place.By calling it a startup, Ballmer is either overconfident of his services or has a serious issue of superiority complex. Note this: 7-8 months ago, Dropbox and Microsoft's Skydrive shared almost same number of users, 6 months later, when Dropbox reaches 100M users, Microsoft comes out with 200M users. 100M users in 6 months? How is it possible? Ignore the bump in numbers, but calling a 100 million user service that has been running from 6 years a startup? Just insane.
