In a new interview with Fox Business Network today, Bill Gates called Windows 8 the the foundation for the future of operating systems at Microsoft and said his children dont ask to use Apple products.

Thats what Bill Gates told Fox Business Network today in an interview that took place at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland. When asked about ultrabooks, Gates implied Microsofts Surface tablet is a better choice as it solves the dilemma of whether users want a tablet or a laptop. He also called Windows 8 the companys future.

The way they have built touch in, the way they have the application store its off to quite a good start, he said. You know, making sure they have more the best applications, more applications, you know theyre on a really good trajectory.

Elsewhere in Gates interview with Fox Business Network, he said his children have never asked for Apple products, despite a recent interview to the contrary with his wife, Melinda.

Well, they never asked, so I dont know [if they want to use Apple products], he said. It would be interesting if they did ask, but they love their Windows Phones and they love their Windows PCs.

In an interview with U.K. radio station Radio 4 last month, Melinda Gates had said her children sometimes ask for Apple products but that she and her husband only allow Windows devices in their house.

Additionally, in a 2010 interview with The New York Times Melinda Gates said, Nothing [Apple] crosses the threshold of our doorstep.

We believe you Sir Gates .

But please tell the guys you left back at Redmond to use this foundation to build something solid and worth using and appreciating ,

and not simply use it as a playfield for trying out new ideas and then lay it out half cooked and half raw for the users . <_<

Bill Gates, and Micro$oft, is still trapped in the past.

Steve Job is dead. Haven't you heard of it? <_<

I think Android OS, and some emerging OSes like firefox OS, is your biggest competitor now.

They are not in the desktop/laptop business yet but the products using it were the reason you

have a hard time selling new desktop/laptop/tablet hardwares.

Average users and beginners are more attracted to these much cheaper Android products as it's more

easier to use, lightweight and easier to maintain and repair.

You're killing the desktop/laptop sector but you're going with its demise.

Nobody likes your surface or windows phone products, so where is your place now without the windows desktop OS? :P

like i said before , if u need to reinstall your OS go with W8 , but if u have already working W7 stay with it .... installing all from zero and configure all yours software up doesn't worth it .
