Escritoire
Hi Asio,1. You sure have read this: http://www.nsaneforums.com/topic/153680-solved-need-help-with-data-recovery-from-primary-hdd/Then/else2. You can go the Seagate site and check if the disk is still under warranty: http://www.seagate.com/support/warranty-and-replacements/or3. If there are R/W errors in a well delimited area, determine that place, and create two or three or ... partitions so that these bad sectors/clusters are left in an unused (unformated) part of the disk (Crossing fingers...).and4. Hdds are part electronics, part mechanics, nobody should ever rely too much on them, everyone should have a little money and a (n Acronis or else) backup, were a remplacement requested.[Anyway, I won't blame anyone; I should too, I don't either]RegardsEscritoire
Escritoire
Hi truemate, Hi Asio,For some time now, I use Defraggler (or CrapCleaner fame): Defraggler 2.12.628 by Piriform - http://www.piriform.com/defragglerI'm not clever enough to know if it really defragments fine though it seems serious, but it's free and it gives you the SMART indications when you run it.Computing regards to allEscritoire

rudrax
If your warranty has expired, you can try a low level format with Hiren's BCD..Back up your data before doing anything with Hiren's BCD (If you get the problem in future with any HDD having warranty expired)..And, about the brand conspiracy, It's something depends on your luck too..I had 2 WD HDDs crashed within 2 years but I repaired one.. Administrator DKT27 Posted January 26, 2013 Administrator Share Posted January 26, 2013 I would have recommended CHKDSK but sending for RMA is probably the best. :)Do note, as soon as your RMAd drive comes back (might take a month or two, it will mostly be some other drive, not yours), first thing you should remember to do is to check for these values again. ;)

The product I send for RMA is not always the product I get in return. As in, I'd sent a router and an printer for repair, they fixed the thing immediately and gave back. But when I sent an motherboard and an DVD drive, both were the same model when they arrived, but I later noted those weren't mine, but someone else's who may have sent for RMA. Administrator DKT27 Posted January 26, 2013 Administrator Share Posted January 26, 2013 From what i can understand, the ones you get back from RMA are actually old RMAed devices which are/were refurbished.
