Windows-7-Accounts-for-60-of-All-Windows

It’s no secret that Microsoft’s new Windows 8 fails to excite right now, but here’s a new report that does nothing more than to confirm this.

Chitika Insights revealed some brand new statistics concerning the computers running Microsoft’s Windows platform, with Windows 7 remaining the clear leader in this particular category.

Windows 8 is currently installed on 3.3 percent of all computers running Microsoft software, while Windows 7 retains the top spot with 59.6 percent.

Windows XP is obviously the second most popular Windows OS on the market, with a share of 25.6 percent, followed by Windows Vista with 11.3 percent. The other Windows versions account for approximately 1 percent of the market.

Figures revealed by Net Applications, on the other hand, show that Windows 7 is the number one OS in the world, while Windows XP comes second with nearly 39 percent of the market.

Windows 8 is going to belong synonymous with Vista and Milennium as the 'red-headed step-children' of Windows Operating Systems. The only bright spot for W8 is it's speed; having the latest in built-in technology. It's supposedly stated somewhere that it is faster than W7. Although personally, I don't see it, I can't speak for the rest of the world. But if it happens that W8 eventually earns a good rep for it's speed over W7, then perhaps it will make itself the better of the three 'red-headed step-children'. Otherwise, I don't see anything else happening for the new OS, and furthermore, I believe that MS Blue will further attest to that; as W8's proverbial 'band-aid' and silent apology from Microsoft for unleashing W8 in the first place. Just my thoughts.

Just ripping off most features & Services to comprimize with speed isn't a good move by MS. That is condemnable. This is what users of XP & Win7 are saying.

I predict that win 8 will be less popular than Vista. I'd like to see MS do a real survey as to what people really want before they release the next version.

Even if they do survey, they'll make the opposite of what the survey says.

Vista is still out there? I would have thought that it would have died completely a long time ago. What a dog of an OS that was.

You must notice the trend.

XP & Win 7.

7 still being used to a high degree, a bit like XP.

XP was the super sonic new OPS that was properly invested in and tested, a bit like 7.

Visa & Win 8. As useless as each other.

As Sheldon Cooper of Big Bang Theory is quoted,

Windows 8 is the new Windows Vista.

i also didnt see any boot up speed in w8 over w7 , i dont know where microsoft take this ...

They probably think we can now all afford SSD's.

I can just manage to afford a hybrid.

I did not notice any difference that was less than negligible.

Non-Windows 8 hater or lover here. :)

As for the boot, make sure the "fastboot" is ON. Fast boot is hybrid boot, which is similar to hibernate. My Windows 8 boots (from beep) in 10 seconds on HDD.
