Is Microsoft going to have a promotion to sell Microsoft Office 2013 at an unbelievable price, just like what it did for Windows 8? If the price for Microsoft Office 2013 Professional which is now going on sale in Singapore is true and not a price error, the most premium edition of Office 2013 available for retail purchase is going for a ridiculous deal of about USD $4.10 (SGD $5.00).

Singapore users have been abuzz with sale of Microsoft Office 2013 Professional at just SGD $5.00 a license, which can be installed on 1 PC. In fact, early buyers who bought at SGD $5 a license have managed received the product keys and download link to Office 2013 Professional. And the product keys available seem to have run out, as new purchase get the message “processing serial number or unlock code” instead. Nonetheless, the sale still goes through.

Nope, not at all. They're trying to fake and exploit to make a lot of people download the product to increase their customer base. They know that pirates will tend to take advantage of cheapness, giving the product more downloads. All the software sites will then report the error and draw attention to the product. Then by quickly patching the flaw, they cut the potential loss.

THIS IS NOTHING MORE THAN A PUBLICITY STUNT.

If only they put half the effort they put in marketing toward making WIN 8 better, maybe the OS might have had a chance. Right now they're trying to prove the point that they can sell :poop: in a pack with the windows logo on it.

Yes, and no. Nobody needs a new OS every year on desktop x86 PC's, which is a matured technology and are increasingly being used only for specific specialized purposes unlike tablets and smartphones. Even if Win8 was indeed a "bigger, better and faster" version of Win7 replete with more features, most people who had just upgraded/migrated to Win7 in the last year or so and paid $100+ for it would not have given this a second thought methinks ;)

A lot of the geekboys would have because of their fascination with the 'latest and greatest' and certainly a lot of us would have, 'cuz most of us did not have to pay for either 7 or 8 :P

Tabs and Smartphones on the other hand are still in their infancy, which means the scope for improvement is that much higher both in terms of hardware and software. So incremental upgrades every year or so makes sense. Think of Gingerbread two years back and think of Jelly Bean today. Hell and heaven  But no x86 client OS circa 2013 is gonna make editing, rendering, gaming, word processing, presentation creating, spreadsheet making etc. experience that much better and easier to warrant further expenditure. :nono:

Especially, seeing as most corporates still aren't done rolling out Win7 as yet, Win8 (and even Office 2013 maybe) was DOA from the start. Never stood a chance in the desktop environment. The only way it can do well is by selling more of those Surface tabs, but even they do not seem to be going anywhere. Personally, I believe that the Win8 versions (x86) will eventually do well for obvious compatibility reasons once the glitches are sorted out, but Win RT might struggle to catch traction for being neither here nor there :(
