vissha
AMD Officially Launches Its Richland, Temash and Kabini APUs Last week we said that AMD's CES 2013 exhibition would focus on APUs and GPUs for mobile and gaming devices. As it happens though, its new products are good for things besides those. We got the Sea Islands and Solar System GPUs out of the way yesterday, so today we can see what AMD had to say about its new accelerated processing units. The company is not yet shipping them, and won't actually send them to meet the world all at once. The Temash, Kabini and Richland chips will debut at different times, though still at some point during the first half of 2013.Temash and Kabini were the stars of AMD's press conference, both of them quad-core x86 SoCs. The former is made for tablets and hybrid notebooks, while the latter is intended for ultrathin notebooks (alternatives to ultrabooks).AMD also discussed a range of new Accelerated Processing Units (APUs) that are set to arrive later this year. The two highlights were codenamed Temash and Kabini, two products that the company is touting as its first true system-on-chip APUs, and quad-core x86 parts at that. Kabini is designed to take on Intel on the ultra-thin notebook segment, with up to 50% more compute performance than current-generation Brazos 2.0, while Temash replaces Hondo as AMD's tablet and hybrid APU with double the graphics performance. Moreover, Richland is aimed at more traditional laptops and desktops, with a claimed performance boost of 20% to 40% over the current generation of A-Series products. AMD said that Richland APUs are already shipping to OEMs and announced that systems built around this chip will come bundled with gesture- and facial-recognition software to "expand and enhance consumers' user experiences". "With a groundbreaking new APU line-up in 2013, AMD is poised to win in high-growth consumer segments," said Lisa Su, senior vice president and general manager, AMD Global Business Units."We are developing technologies with end users in mind -- to bring true surround computing and immersive experiences to our everyday lives. It is exciting to bring our industry-leading APU technologies to market, including the industry's first x86 quad-core SoC, while building on our leadership in graphics and gaming."Richland will be followed by Kaveri, another series of APUs based on the 28nm manufacturing process. This one will only ship in the second half of the year though.Batches of the Richland A-Series are already being sent over to whatever OEMs have decided to launch PCs based on AMD APUs.ASUS, Vizio and HP are just three of the firms that will release, or have already released, systems of gadgets using AMD processors.Specifications will be disclosed whenever AMD outs each particular chip.Bringing Surround Computing to Life at CES:These new products further AMD's vision for the next era of Surround Computing -- the convergence of computing ecosystems that result in immersive experiences across a wealth of form factors with new consumer-driven natural interfaces. To build on this concept, AMD in concert with VIZIO unveiled the industry's first AMD SurRoundhouse which gives visitors to the AMD Experience Zone at CES a first glimpse into the art of the possible for Surround Computing. The AMD SurRoundhouse delivers a next-generation home theater demonstration on AMD technology that delivers panoramic HD content perfectly paired with spatial audio to immerse participants in a true 360 degrees sensory experience.Source: Multiple source
red_linspy
Every time we face a laptop or computer, the thought is we will quickly finish the job and did not think to relax. So that is needed now is a fast processor with perfect power management that benefits those with high mobility.Entertainment is number 2 after all our work is completed and filled with the holiday. So I think that this processor would only be appropriate for a tablet, but this is a good article  :)

All/Most of the AMD Processor Models recently lauched are beating Intel in all proportions. The Server market is now on AMD. Intel is now only a drop in a cup of water. All the server side products of AMD has overtaken Intel and mostly during mid 2012.
