Silly question but i'm going to upgrade someones pc from Vista to Windows 8. :o They can't afford 7 and want to stay legal.

Both are meh. So I wondered if anyone would prefer to stick with Vista :D

Windows 8. Don't judge the book by it's (ugly) cover. ;)

I would pick Vista SP2 if there were no Start Menu apps for Windows 8.

I chose Vista, bcoz Windows Blue will be out in few months and that too MS will release new OS every year. So why to use a bug filled and feature-less Win8? We can give Security for any OS with a Single Internet Security s/w, but we can't give all needed(default in other versions of OS) features with a single s/w. One is better than many.

Most people who chose Win8 thought that, they thought Win8 will be easy to upgrade to Win Blue(for Free). Currently we can't trust the Sadist(Ballmer) in Microsoft. He'll do all worst surprises(any time).

Important Info:

Vista got Features, but lacs Security.[We can use AV/IS/Firewall or all combined]

Win8 got Speed, but lacs both Features and Security.[We must use many different third-party s/w or Apps-which inturn creates more loopholes and Security s/w(AV/IS/Firewall)]

Nsane Users, After reading above comparision and Vote again!

First to vote for vista :) , AV and firewall can be decived just by simple tricks like binnary manipulation or arp poisning and dns spoffing ...

Vista SP2 is not bad at all. I would also choose it over Windows 8. Vista SP2 is a little slower then 7, but as OS, it's not so bad at all. It was terrible in the begining, but a lot of things were fixed with SP1 and even more with SP2.

Cheers ;)

Have voted for Windows 8 - in all sincerity though, cannot really judge with justice here; as I've not used Vista over a protracted period of time (just like most other Voters - one of who couldn't even get the spelling of Vis(h)ta right.)

It's not uncommon to discover that people who comment the most on especially an OS have never even used that particular OS (leave aside tweaking and/or customizing it.) The same goes for most reviews, too - it's only the intelligent who try out something for themselves over a minimum period of time, instead of allowing themselves to get influenced by second-hand copy-paste reviews, from third-hand typists.

So, not making my views on Vista - they would be nothing short of uneducated opinion.

Win8 any time over Vista, Vista slows down my system, on the other hand Win8 only issue is the start which has been solved in many ways. Never had a blue screen of death with Win8 and makes better usage of the memory specially for systems with lots of ram (16 Gb and above)

I would suggest Vista.

But be careful to find good drivers. Vista is known to have bad driver support.

Win8 - yeah, too much force. Forcefully learn the new GUI... No.

Go to a computer store, buy a HDD, and then purchase an OEM copy of Windows 7, much cheaper than buying a boxed version.

Also, Vista & 8 are both shit!

Never tried the so called Blister but heard many people saying it was (is) a complicated OS. Win8 is with some bugs but still they can be solved on future upgrades, reason why I am keeping it.
