Gangnam Style becomes first YouTube video to reach 1 billion views

The music video for Gangnam Style, from Korean pop signer PSY, has now become the first video posted on Google's YouTube service to reach and exceed one billion views.

Just a few weeks ago, we reported that the music video for Gangnam Style, the music video from Korean pop star PSY, had become the most viewed video on YouTube of all time. The video was posted on July 15 and back on November 24th, it had over 806 million views.

Now the Gangnam Style video has reached yet another major milestone. Earlier today, its views on YouTube exceeded the one billion mark. It is the first video posted on YouTube to reach that number of views and it managed to do so inside of six months.

Not only has the original version of Gangnam Style generated one billion views, other videos posted on PSY's official YouTube channel have achieved huge numbers on their own. A remix of the song, featuring another Korean artist Hyuna,

In a post on the official YouTube blog, it also points out that the rise of the song has also had other effects. The song has generated over 600,000 downloads on iTunes. Even lots of parodies of Gangnam Style have been successful on YouTube, with the blog stating, "In fact, fan tributes to Gangnam Style are now being viewed 20 million times every single day."

This world is dummed. I can't believe this crap has reached so much views, and it's even worse that it's the first. There are so many more songs which are billion times better then this one. I'm a fan of 80's, and I can say without any doubt that every song from this period will be always listened, and everyone will forget this crap, which will be replaced with some other crap.

Excellent question. I really can't understand what people find appealing in this song. It's absolutely disgusting. There isn't a second of quality in the song.

Quality.

Sincere.

I'm all for quality. But some times, I like to take it away and enjoy it. I didn't like or understand in one try, I tried few times and then I started enjoying it.
