nsane.forums
Microsoft is now requiring that people who purchase a new PC with Windows 7 installed to provide the Windows 7 product ID to get the promised $14.99 upgrade to Windows 8. Yes, you can still buy a new PC with Windows 7 installed instead of Windows 8. While Microsoft is also still offering a way for those users to upgrade to Windows 8 Pro for just $14.99 until January 31, 2013, it has apparently added a new requirement for that to happen. When Microsoft first started this effort back in August, all people had to do to qualify for this offer was to go to the Windows 8 Pro upgrade page and type in the PC model name and maker, and the date which you bought the PC. Now CNet reports, and we have confirmed, that Microsoft is also requiring users to type in their unique Windows 7 product ID in order to get the $14.99 upgrade. This change appears to be quite recent but so far Microsoft has not commented publicly on why they added this additional requirement. It's possible that the company wanted some extra proof that the people who bought a new Windows 7 PC did so during the required time period. Microsoft is also offering a $39.99 upgrade to all older Windows 7, Vista and XP PCs to Windows 8 but that price will also end on January 31. Marik
Hahahahahahah !! cause no one being attracted to there bullshit !! windows shit 8 lol, you took the words out of my mouth...indeed pppppffffuuhahahahahahah, in their desperate attempt to convince users to switch to windows 8 so they can spy on their every move and remotely delete their files without permission through the kill switch feature, they're going as far so to cut it's price and include it as a 'sweet' deal you can't pass out hoping people will buy into this sh!t. but no, at the end of the day sh!t is still sh!t

calguyhunk
Just wondering if it will work with a product ID from Daz's Loader activated PC? :dunno: I mean activated in the last few weeks maybe :PMaybe not, but worth trying I suppose if all the OEM info is supplied correctly and the installation has been confirmed by MS as genuine :hehe:EDIT: Nah! Just checked. You still need an unique product key. So there goes my $15 genuine Windows :P
dcs18
Hahahahahahah !! cause no one being attracted to there bullshit !! windows shit 8 lol, you took the words out of my mouth...indeedThat was my initial assumption, too - but, closer reading shows that they've just made procuring Windows 8 more difficult, not easier. There's now an additional condition for eligibility to a Windows 8 purchase. ;) Microsoft is now requiring that people who purchase a new PC with Windows 7 installed to provide the Windows 7 product ID to get the promised $14.99 upgrade to Windows 8. nuthut
If you guys would have gotten your Keys the first couple days, you wouldn't be in such a predicament. I got 4 out of my 5 Win 8 keys w/o needing a Win 7 key. It wasn't until the Monday after initial distribution that I had to enter a valid key to get my last copy.MS leaves doors open for you guys, but you don't want to enter them. InEvX
I upgraded to Windows 8 without doing a clean install.. absolutely HORRIBLE experience. Long startup/shut down times, very glitchy, slow, etc. Then I installed windows 8 by doing a fresh install.. got used to it and kind of liked it. Until I did a windows update about a week or so ago and every time I tried to search for a file (through the metro interface) would freeze up and wouldn't be able to do jack. Then indexing files (for faster searches), would not work after that update...Finally ran one of those windows fixing utility from microsoft to finally get windows 8 to work properly...Hell with all of that BS. I'm switching back to windows 7. Windows 8 has its benefits (mostly boot time)... but other than that? Meh. Windows store or whatever doesn't have much apps on there, etc.Switching back to windows 7. Absolutely brilliant software. Just a very smooth software. Zero hiccups when I was on windows 7. Only one unfortunate part about windows 7: It won't support directX 11.1 ='(........... Stupid microsoft!
Administrator DKT27 Posted December 20, 2012 Administrator Share Posted December 20, 2012 Only one unfortunate part about windows 7: It won't support directX 11.1 ='(........... Stupid microsoft! That's not exactly correct. Just after MS had announced that they won't offer DX11.1 on Windows 7, the public outcry was so much that they had to take U-turn, in which, it had released some basic DX11.1 features that Windows 7 could handle, via Windows Update.
