anuseems
There are only a few technology limitations that almost inescapably apply to every single person who uses the internet. The frustrating, internet-wide restriction on email attachment file sizes is one such limitation. However, Google has done what it does best and decided to break the conventional barriers in this regard.Long story short, the search giant now makes it possible for Gmail users to send attachments as large as 10GB. This is only possible because the company has integrated its cloud-based storage service, Google Drive, into Gmail. So everything is pulling from the same servers, making the transfer of files more seamless and less of a technical burden for Google.By comparison Gmail’s attachment size limit used to be 25MB, and that was practically industry-shattering at the time. Since then Microsoft ambitiously introduced 10GB attachments in Hotmail. Google has needed to upgrade its service ever since.Increasing its attachment capacity by 400 times the previous limit definitely achieves that. For the end user, though, it won’t be instantly accessible and user-friendly. You aren’t technically sending a file through Google’s email servers. What you are doing is sending the recipients access to your Google Drive file, allowing them to download it if they so choose.Traditional Gmail attachments are not going anywhere, but the Google Drive feature will potentially make it easier for users on both sides to share documents and other content. Plus, perhaps it will generate more buzz and brand awareness for Google Drive, which Google has been desperately seeking.@ http://gmailblog.blogspot.ca/2012/11/gmail-and-drive-new-way-to-send-files.html
