nsane.forums
New data from Net Applications shows that Windows 7 increased its PC OS market share in October, while Windows 8 went up slightly due to its launch in later October. Even though Windows 8 launched in late October, the new deployment of Windows 7 on many PCs, especially in businesses, continues. Today, the newly updated PC OS market share results from Net Applications show that Windows 7 adoption is still increasing. The new results from October 2012 show Windows 7 with a 44.69 percent market share for the month, up from 44.01 percent in September and just 42.76 percent in August. Windows XP went down to 40.66 percent in October, compared to 41.23 in September and 42.52 percent from August. Windows Vista is still a distant third in these latest OS market share stats with 5.80 percent. Net Applications shows that Windows 8 was used by 0.41 percent of PC OS users in October, compared to 0.33 percent in September. Since Windows 8 launched less than a week ago, that percentage should increase greatly over the coming months. Indeed, Windows 8 will likely go well ahead of Windows Vista in a matter of months. Earlier this week at the BUILD 2012 developer conference, Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer announced that since the general availability of Windows 8, there have been four million upgrades made from older Windows PCs just four days after its launch. a2ms
With Windows 8 out, I guess people (mostly in business) still in XP, or Vista will decide to move to a more stable Win 7. Meanwhile new machines with win 7 will begin to slowly fade

I have Linux on another partition, as a dual boot. If I could, I would never use windows again, however, we have to in my house hold. IMO , like xp still here and hard (41%) , it will be replaced sooner or later by win 7 , making win 8 to live in its shadow :) Well support and updates finish for xp in 2014. I have XP as a 32-bit virtual machine on 7 sp1 pro. I am now starting to get software which is the same as the ones that only work on xp or vista. New ones are the same software by different authors that work on 7. So I guess in 3 programs time virtual mode xp will be history.

I always wished to use Linux, but unfortunately I always find myself wasting time on fixing problems and customizing stuff to my liking and not productive as in windows
