Japan gets some of the coolest technology available. HTC announced the HTC J Butterfly today, which features a stunning 5-inch 1080p display. And no, you can't have it yet.

Today in Tokyo, HTC unveiled their latest device; a mobile phone touting a 5-inch, 1080p display, something which is completely unmatched in the market so far.

The device -- named the J Butterfly -- is a follow up to the previously released HTC J and features a quad-core 1.5GHz Snapdragon S4 Pro processor, 2GB of RAM, and an 8-megapixel camera. Those details alone should be enough to make any Android fan melt, since it'll also feature Jellybean from launch. It gets better, though, since the device also has a microSDHC expansion, 802.11a/b/g/n WiFi, Bluetooth 4.0 (LE), NFC, LTE and CDMA/GSM/UMTS/GPRS radios (which means you can use it anywhere in the world).

Those specifications are nothing to shake a stick at, and truly give even HTC's new flagship phone -- the One X+ -- a run for it's money. HTC says the phone featured a massive 440 pixels-per-inch, which should be enough to satisfy any pixel enthusiast. The Verge noted that whilst the device looks huge, it doesn't feel unwieldy in the hands since it's just 9.1mm thin. Oh, by the way, it's waterproof too.

Sadly, the bad news is that HTC says the J Butterfly isn't coming to anywhere outside of Japan, but, pixel enthusiasts will be able to pick up a device "soon" that features the same panel. We're excited, and are going to start trying to get our hands on one of these. They'll be available in Japan on KDDI in December in either Red or Black.
