nsane.forums Posted August 28, 2012 Share Posted August 28, 2012 Microsoft has announced that it has launched a mobile client for its SkyDrive cloud-based data storage service for Android smartphones, joining the iOS and Windows Phone versions. As promised earlier this month, Microsoft has now launched a mobile client for Android smartphone owners to access Microsoft's SkyDrive data storage service. This new move will expand the reach of SkyDrive to the single largest mobile smartphone marketplace. The download is now available for free on the Google Play store and while it works with Android 2.3 and above, Microsoft says that the SkyDrive app will work best with smartphones that are running on Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich). The official SkyDrive blog states: In building the new SkyDrive app for Android, we wanted to ensure we kept the same intuitive design of all SkyDrive experiences while also making use of Android design patterns and conventional interactions, so this feels natural for people with Android phones. In addition to being able to access files on a user's SkyDrive account, the Android app will also allow for the upload of multiple photos or videos from Android phones. User can also open their SkyDrive files from other Android apps. The SkyDrive app was previously made available for Windows Phone and iOS-based products and in August, Microsoft relaunched the SkyDrive.com website that better supports both desktop and tablet web browsers with a "Modern" interface.
