How much can you resell your Samsung Galaxy S II? Motorola RAZR? Google Nexus S? HTC Sensation 4G? I guarantee not as much as an (comparable) iPhone. If you head over to Amazon.com's Electronics Trade-in section and type "iPhone 4S", you will find Amazon is giving up to $500 for iPhone 4S trade-ins.

The amount Amazon gives you for your iPhone 4s depends on the condition, type (16GB vs 32 GB vs 64GB), color (black vs white), and carrier (AT&T vs Verizon vs Sprint vs unbranded) of your iPhone 4S. For example, a "like new" non-carrier specific white 16GB iPhone 4S can be traded-in for $420; the same iPhone 4S except Verizon and Sprint versions can be traded-in for $410. The highest I've seen so far is a "like new" black AT&T 64GB iPhone 4S going for $500.

iPhone 4, the model that is now over two years old, is fetching a nice price, too. For example, a "like new" white 16GB iPhone 4 for Verizon can be traded-in for $295. I've even seen an iPhone 3GS (16GB, black, unbranded, and "like new") go for $145.

There is a catch, of course. Instead of giving you money, Amazon gives you Amazon gift cards for the trade-ins. These gift cards cannot be used on AmazonWireless, meaning you can't use them to buy an iPhone 5 when it comes out. And you must ship your device to Amazon within 7 days or risk losing the trade value. Still, though, even with the catch(es), this is an amazing deal for iPhone owners looking to get rid of their devices.
