nsane.forums
More details have surfaced regarding pricing for Windows 8, with unnamed sources claiming that Windows 8 Pro will launch at a discounted price of $69.99, before increasing to $199 in January. As we get closer to its October 26 launch date, the broad strokes of Windows 8 are now firmly in place with the final builds having been released to manufacturers, and attention is increasingly focused on getting answers to all of the many remaining questions that continue to loom over it. One of the biggest questions is that of price. Microsoft has so far officially revealed only its promotional pricing, including a discounted upgrade offer for anyone buying a Windows 7 system between now and January 31 2013. We’ve known for some time that these customers will be able to upgrade to Windows 8 Pro for just $14.99 - and registration for this is now open - but non-promotional pricing has remained elusive. The Verge may have the answer though. A “source familiar with Microsoft’s plans” revealed to Tom Warren that Windows 8 Pro will launch with a $69.99 promotional price tag, before the cost leaps to $199 once the offer period expires at the end of January. Windows 8 users will also be able to upgrade to Windows 8 Pro – although it seems that this option will, confusingly, only be available through retail stores – at a discounted price of $69.99 until January, after which the price will jump to $99.99. As previously reported, users of existing Windows versions will be able to upgrade to Windows 8 Pro for $39.99 online, although this fee is for a download only, and will not include physical media. Cramsdeath
Microsoft will hardly get any sales when it's around the 60 mark... If it wasn't Windows 8 I would happily spend 60-80 on an OS, but for what you're going to get after January 200 is far too much..... They should keep it at the cheap price to kinda laugh at themselves 'haha we've made a crap OS, so we'll sell it for cheap'

So far i am very happy with win 8 performance.. windows 8 is lot faster than win 7 .. In win 7 i had lot of problems with chrome i normally open a lot of tabs in chrome and in win 7 if you open a lot of tabs in chrome it freezes but in windows 8 even though i open 30 to 40 tabs no problem at all .. I had this problem in windows 7 since the starting but in win 8 no problem :) very happy with win 8 except metro but metro after using a week its getting better .. Its m own opinion and i don't saw any complaints on windows 8 in terms of performance the only complaint i saw in win 8 by lot of users is metro interface ..same hardware same 32 bit but now my pc performance is lot better .. :D

Unlike Vista, nobody on the planet has ever complained about any serious problems with Win7. Make sure you've downloaded it from the links on "The Officia Windows 7 Repository" thread on MDL. Some cut-peice versions do have weird problems with 'em even though they may still be genuine ;) Check your hardware. Running the 64 bit version with 1 or even 2GB RAM does that to you from time to time. My desktop with 6Gb is noticeably quicker with the 64 bit version than my lappy running 32 bit with 2GB. Even the 32 bit needs at least 2GB to perform decently without noticeable lags especially while multitasking. Apps take a lot longer to open on my slower lappy than they do on my desktop  Of course the difference between a 2.1 Ghz Pentium and a 3.2 Ghz i7 should be noted too :P Nobody buys an OS just for the boot times. If that was the case, everybody would be running Puppy or DSL for the last 10 years. Not XP/7. Win8 deployment will be a nightmare for the businesses. The time, money & energy spend on training & re-traing staff on how to use the thing will permanently keep 'em away from this thingy. Not to mention the little thing 'bout regular Win7/XP apps not working when on 'not-Metro'. (sarcastic) :P Also, if you're on a limited bandwidth connection, Win8 will increase your internet usage charges exponentially unlike Win7/XP. Personally I'll try it again of course, if only as a play-thing but only when an offline activator of some sorts is released from some quarter ;) P.S: Please turn off the psycedelic blue. It's kinda' jarring. Also, try and use paragraphs henceforth. It's easier to read that way :)
calguyhunk
BTW @ MS - Good luck trying to sell that piece of cr@p for $200 LOL! :lmao: What I do think might happen, is that Windows 7 sales are gonna suddenly spurt when both consumers & organizations on XP realize that Win8 is not gonna be the upgrade they were waiting for. So in the short term, MS may not be that adversely affected, ironically enough :dunno:
psyko666
Meh.. Windows bashing is easy.. I did it myself.. but I'm using Windows 8 Pro x64 now and it's fully activated and it feels great.. At first I was like, what the hell ?! But after a while I got used to it and it feels better then Windows 7 Ultimate imo, smoother and if you're a Metro hater then I have some news, I sitch all the time between Metro and my desktop..One more thing.. you get used to it.. really.. I doubted it but I like Windows 8 now.. :)

One more thing.. you get used to it.. really.. I doubted it but I like Windows 8 now.. :) One thing I cannot stand about Windows 8, its lack of Start Menu (like Windows 7 and below). I really hate the Start screen, and all the apps there are pleasant but are useless to a desktop user. I were forced to switch back to Windows 7 due to lack of video driver for my GPU. I agree with you, Windows 8 is faster, and has less freezes/lockups as compared to Windows 7, but if there was a way to completely disable/remove the Start screen and get back the Start Menu like on Windows 7, I would switch to Windows 8. psyko666
Maybe you're right about some things you pointed out.. but all my stuff is working fine here.. if you in Windows 8 and go to the left corner (where your startmenu was) then click your right mouse button and you have a short list with options...In the beginning a missed the start menu but now I work different, just as easy as with Windows 7... It's a matter of getting used to I guess, also in Metro you can type in what you want and you get a list of options what you can choose, if you're looking for something it's right there with other options to choose...Try it.. I love it now.. :)

Just saying that at first look at least, it is so different, that most people will be put off by it and since almost all of us are happy on Win7, it'll be difficult to convince people to fork out $200 for something that you do not - in any way, shape or form - need  I guess a year from now, we'll know the results for sure, but methinks that Win7 sales in the meanwhile are gonna go up when the businesses realize that Win8 deployment means spending extra time, money & energy re-training their staff in basic operations. Consumers sitting at home may or may not have that time, but businesses definitely don't :nono:

It's easier to read that way :) 1) it's your installation of either Chrome or Windows itself that is corrupted. --- Nothing is corrupted if you can google CHROME is using too much memory u can see a lot of problems in win 7 when you use multiple tabs on chrome.. I tried windows ultimate and Windows 7 Enterprise .. 2) Check your hardware.-- Core 2 duo e6550 @2.33gHz , 1 gb 9800 gt graphics card , 4gb ram so i don't think there is any problem with my hardware If there is any problem in hardware then the same problem will show up in win 8 because i am using the same hardware without any changes but until now no problem I checked it by opening 50 tabs on my chrome with full pages loaded :D.. 3)Nobody buys an OS just for the boot times. - I never said that i will purchase because its good in boot times but they are really important for user who want to buy .. 4) as psyko666 said try it you feel difficult at the begining but you happy good after few days no other problems .. 5) lack of Start Menu is the main problem for some users but u can use some programs like vstart and you can get back win start menu again. 6) Finally i can say windows 8 is lot better than win 7 in terms of performance.. Those who are complaining about win 8 is because of metro and start menu..
Cramsdeath
What. Have. I. Started. :sWindows 8 does have it's redeeming qualities, but I think i'll stick with my Windows 7 / Ubuntu until I have Windows 9 to slag off. * Cough * I mean constructively criticise..... I think Windows have started their ''Kill updates'' i'm having quite a lot of people asking me to 'fix their internet' because magically there appears to be issues with 7 networking . . . I wonder what the next ''Kill update'' will be . . . Any Bets?
