nsane.forums
Windows 8 is shaping up to be a the most customizable version of Windows ever. We take a look at the default lock screen wallpapers that are included within Windows 8 out of the box. With Windows 8 users are finally able to customize their lock screens out of the box, rather than having to use a program or registry tweak to achieve the same results in earlier versions of Windows. The RTM version of Windows already includes examples of some great looking wallpapers, but you aren't stuck with those like you are with the Start Screen patterns, you can also browse to any folder and select your own image to display in the lock screen. The only thing missing from this feature, is the ability to to select multiple wallpapers that switch with timed intervals, which we think would be great to have. Maybe someone will come up with a program or tweak that does just that. Below for your viewing pleasure are the default lockscreens included within Windows 8. You can check out more Windows 8 stories using this tag, or view our timeline of events since the RTM of Windows was announced. As a reminder, Windows 8 will be made available on August 15th for MSDN and TechNet subscribers, and on October 26th for retail purchase. Although pricing has yet to be confirmed, a rumor suggests that Windows 8 Pro could be made available for around $70 dollars, or at the confirmed $39.95 upgrade time-limited offer. Maxhedroom
Have a hard time believing the $70 for W8 Pro rumor. I doubt that even regular W8 Home will be less than $100. The upgrade price has however been confirmed. I have a legit W7...if I switch to W8 (very doubtful), that's the route I'll take. If I decide after a month or two that I like W7 better, all I have to do ofc is use a bootloader to re-install W7. My only real interest in W8 is that it will support the passing of the TRIM command to SSDs that are in a raid array. Now there's word from a good source that says W7 might also gain this ability thru an RST+OROM update feature...should know for sure by this weekend I hope. Also not too thrilled that MS removed the option to boot straight to the desktop UI... :wtf:
Administrator DKT27 Posted August 9, 2012 Administrator Share Posted August 9, 2012 1. MS doesn't need to pay royalties for DVD playback anymore. It is said that this is the reason for the price going down drastically.2. Instead of fixing stuff like giving users a way to disable Metro, it prefers NOT to hear users' pleas and instead goes for aggressive pricing.3. Last but as important as others. This $30 upgrade and $70 full install offer is only valid till January. ;) What this will do? It will make hell lot of people switching to Windows 8, then MS will showoff the stats so even more people switch.I hate it when a company follows Apple strategies. As if one Apple wasn't enough. -_-
psyko666
You know what.. I tried it in VMWare two times now... don't like it and it never will.. <_<I don't want my 30" screen to look like a giant fucking Windows Phone with that puke Metro thingy... so I'm back to W7 Ultimate, like the "Ultimate" name better then "Pro" too.. :P
spudboy
How do you change the lock screen that you seen if you log-out of your profile? I chose a lock screen image and it displays correctly if I chose the "lock" option, but if I log-out it just displays the default image shown in the op and I don't know how to change it.
