Anybody ever tried Flock?

Flock is a consumer Internet business which has developed a free, next generation web browser. The web, and the way people engage online, has evolved dramatically over the past decade. But web browsers - the application that fundamentally enables online experiences and services across ones' connected life - have not kept pace.

Well I decided to give it a go.

From what I've read on their site, the browser is completely based on the Firefox source-code (v3)

Well 1st impressions always count, don't they?

Here is how it looks in its default state ↓

As far as stability goes, it's pretty stable....you can even have ff addons on it, and can import opera/i.e/firefox settings/bookmarks into it.

So far, it looks like it's like a Firefox, about:config works allright. It has the same settings as Firefox.

Flock 2.0 Release Notes:

Flock 2.0 delivers a more personal experience of the web, where its users are in control and more connected to what's important to them. By automatically managing updates and media from popular social services such as MySpace, Facebook, Digg, Flickr, AOL Webmail, Yahoo! Mail, Gmail, YouTube, Pownce and Twitter, Flock makes sharing with friends and services drag-and-drop easy.

New Features in 2.0:

  • Flock 2.0 is based on the Firefox 3 technology, providing a faster, safer, and more stable web surfing experience.
  • MySpace has been integrated as a people service.
  • Revver has been added as Media Bar search service.
  • Flock can now detect Media RSS streams, load them in the Media Bar, and subscribe to them.

Why not give it a try eh?

It's lighter on resources than firefox and it has a friendly UI.

Mmm as I see on the screenshot it's way too 'bloated' for me. I want a clean browser, without any annoying bars and just a google search instead of Yahoo. I will stick with FF, or go to chrome if you can install extensions on that one ;)
