EDIT: I installed TNod over this. And I'm good until August 2014 now. \o/

I guess that they must have wised up.

I uninstalled an expiring legit version of EAV from the ESET Start menu folder. Rebooted to Safe Mode. Ran the ESET uninstaller. Rebooted to Safe Mode. Ran CCleaner. Rebooted Windows normally. Installed EAV (unchecking the first-time scan), not clicking the Finish button (leaving the Window open). Rebooted to Safe Mode. Merged the registry entries. Rebooted Windows normally.

And everything looked OK for 10-15 minutes. EAV was activated, and everything looked greener than grass.

I added my folder and file exclusions. Added my domain exclusions. Than started a computer scan.

But then at the first attempt to auto update the virus signature database, the credentials were rejected.

"Invalid Username and/or Password. Troubleshoot update issue."

And the "Home" screen still displays activated.

Any ideas?

BEFORE. All is OK.

AFTER the failed update attempt. The username and password are blanked by the program. (Alos in the registry.)

All I did was install the update over the installed version.

Then ran the activation.

I've used 3 different activations on 3 PCs, Box-mara Fix, Nikko's ESET Product Activator, and TNod.

They all work without issue.
