nsane.forums
Newly leaked images of the OneNote and Excel logos have revealed the icon style for Microsoft Office 2013, which feature a similar-perspective Metro-style tile as the new Windows 8 logo. As we get closer to the releases of new products, naturally we expect some things to leak out. Today's leak is that of the new Office 2013 application icons, courtesy of LiveSide, which reveal a Windows 8 logo inspired theme is making the rounds at Redmond. Below we have icons for both OneNote and Excel that show off the new look for Office. You'll notice here that Microsoft has kept the same color highlights of Office 2010 in these new icons, although there is a definite Metro-style tile aspect here with a similar perspective as we saw with the new Windows logo. Each of the tiles here has a letter that obviously corresponds to the application at hand, and behind this is half an icon that visualizes what the application is all about. LiveSide also confirms that the mysteriously replaced taskbar icon shown a couple of months ago on the Building Windows 8 blog is indeed that of Microsoft Outlook 2013. You can see the same style icon with an O on the tile and an envelope in the background. We should be seeing more of Office 2013 when a public beta (Office 2013 Preview) is released to everyone soon; rumor has it this could be as soon as next week. manju
i suspect that any software that was a release date for Q4 of 2012 and for 2013 and next years to come should be Metro-styled.....

marshall39
Microsoft should take care with those icons , Apple could sue them if they are too similar to those in OSX :D
kunjar
MSoft seems eager to do away with the aero glass effects which i rather like, perhaps to reduce power consumption.
keyman
Ugliest icons I've ever seen. Totally agree! MSoft seems eager to do away with the aero glass effects which i rather like, perhaps to reduce power consumption. Yeah, probably that's why they dropped it... though I love Aero Glass!
Administrator DKT27 Posted July 1, 2012 Administrator Share Posted July 1, 2012 Microsoft should take care with those icons , Apple could sue them if they are too similar to those in OSX :D I think, by now, Apple would be having patents for having any type of icons too. MSoft seems eager to do away with the aero glass effects which i rather like, perhaps to reduce power consumption. It's just a excuse if you ask me. M$ thinks it can do cheap stuff and can get away with it. Reason I say is that if it really wanted to remove Aero glass, it should have put more time in inventing something better, instead, it invested it's time and money in shiity Metro which is getting slammed by everyone.
