KilJaden
After announcing that they'd be shutting off their DRM servers and nuking their customers' music collections, Wal Mart has changed their mind. Now they've told their customers that they'll be keeping these servers online indefinitely -- which means that they'll be paying forever for their mistaken kowtowing to the entertainment industry's DRM mania. All those companies (cough Amazon cough Apple cough) that say they're only doing DRM for now, until they can convince the stupid entertainment execs to ditch it, heed this lesson: you will spend the rest of your corporate life paying for this mistake, maintaining infrastructure whose sole purpose is to lock your customers into a technology restriction that no one really believes in. Welcome to the infinite cost of doing business with Hollywood. Based on feedback from our customers, we have decided to maintain our digital rights management (DRM) servers for the present time. What this means to you is that our existing service continues and there is no action required on your part. Our customer service team will continue to assist with DRM issues for protected windows media audio (WMA) files purchased from Walmart.com. While our customer support team is available to assist you with any issues, we continue to recommend that you back up your songs by burning them to a recordable audio CD. By backing up your songs, you insure access to them from any personal computer at any time in the future. We appreciate your support and patience as we work to provide the best service possible to you. As we move forward with our 100% MP3 store, we'll continue to update you with key decisions regarding our service and your account via email. Thank you for using Walmart MP3 Music Downloads. LeetPirate
Well at least Sony got the hint and dropped the piece of shit sonic stage software. That was the biggest load of shit software next to iTunes. Sony finally got some sense and came to the reality of drag and drop media. :P I was so angry when I realized my sony walkman refused to let me edit my own songs after I reinstalled windows so I bought a Sansa Clip which was more fun and easier to use. A few months later I saw Sony announced they were going to drop the Sonic Stage and move to drag and drop, well I was kinda angry because I had already wasted money on my sony walkman as well as a sansa clip, lol, if only I had waited 2 months I could have bought the drag and drop Sony Walkman. It is up to the people, if they like walking around with itunes up their asses then apple will continue to make money. I have vowed to never support DRM so I will stick to drag and drop players. Ambrocious
I work at WAL-MART as a dairy stalker so anything I say would have absolutely zero impact on DRM. I promise you however, if enough people complain about it, it WILL change. I say this knowing exactly how they work and how they are always trying to change to meet the costumers demands. If enough people complained, eventually it will change, even if they say "forever" that's bound to change all based on what the people say is better, trust me. I still think that they will retain the DRM servers for customers who already own the technology because walmart is customer service oriented so even though many new customers won't care to use DRM, walmart will still want to provide good service for their previous customers. I think their great customer service is one of the reasons they are a success, I certainly liked my experience when I shopped there a couple times.Apple on the other hand, LOL. We all know how it goes with Apple. Every owner of an apple device exhibits an Exceptionalism mentality and they like to think they can do that because subconciously they have to do it to compensate for the utter lack of features given to them by apple and upon realization that they just got PWNT major by paying 5 times the regular price for a device and got less than nothing in reality.Classic example is that new mac book air rubbish. Their flagship feature is that it can fit inside an envelope so I guarantee that 99% of owners of a mac book air will be highly pompous and this is because they know that every owner of a notebook pc could say "I can watch a dvd on my notebook", and they are PWNT once more. There are so many ways you could pwn a mac book air user, I mean come on, 1 usb port? LOL.Same thing with the ipod, a few days ago my friend who owns one called me to ask me how the hell to get his pictures out of his ipod. Sadly I have realized that this is the marketting strategy of Apple, to come out with garbage and prey on the exceptionalism clique in society. voodoohippie
Transee Ipod Transfer works well for getting your songs from your iPod back to your PC. I made a mistake when I deleted my music off my HDD on my computer when I tried to delete only one folder with the shift delete so it would simply delete the entire folder from the drive without the need to empty the recycle bin. Well thank God for Transee Ipod Transfer I say cuz all my stuff would have been gone forever. Besides even if I could not re transfer my iPod to the PC I'd just head over to btjunkie and download the discography's of all the artists I had before. Companies like Apple start more people to use torrents than ever before. Apple sure helps p2p.

Here is why. An MP3 song costs 99c on most online stores. This is cool although I would rather buy the FLAC instead of MP3 but back to the topic. Many people buy MP3's then load them all up in their precious crap-pods abut the day your hdd crashes or you run out of space and have to delete some songs or you delete some of your collection by accident then wtf do you do? Cuz crApple could care less about you being able to transfer songs from your shitpods to your pc because anybody who wants to do that is clearly a pirate and should be exiled. So anyway only an idiot would go buy back the mp3 that was deleted and trapped on the shitpod hence the next reaction is that you get pissed as is your right as a customer and most people choose to download back the songs from p2p.Sony has learnt their lesson, the day of reckoning will come for apple as well. I do my part by only endorsing Sony and Sandisk drag and drop walkmans and so should everyone else. Only fads buy ipods cuz they lack friends and think if they own an ipod it makes them cool.
