Here's a product us consumers won't have much to do with: a 16 GB Registered DIMM module with a clock speed of 1,600 MHz.

Having already been tested on the EVGA SR-X dual-socket motherboard, it can lead to memory setups of 192 GB.

Century Japan made the 240-pin memory for customers in search of less expensive but still competent RAM.

For reference, a DDR3-1066 MHz 16 GB RDIMM sells for around $300 / 238 Euro.

This new memory, even at 1,600 MHz, is priced at just a little above that: 25,000 JPY / $314 / 249 Euro.

36 Hynix DRAM chips were used to achieve the capacity. Also, since this is ECC memory, only server chipsets will use the module properly because most consumer chipsets don't have Error-Correcting Code.
