ck_kent
As far as I know, Buffalo uses Hitachi hard drives. I've seen one but i don't know if they all use it in their line. If you have good experience with Hitachi then go for it.

Nemesis
for what its worth, i have a Hitachi 2 TB (single drive) external that has given me no problems whatsoever.
dcs18
If I'm getting 1 TB for the same amount instead of 500 GB, I'd opt for the 1 TB (makes a great difference with double the storage.)I'm sure both will carry the same warranty and have always observed that manufacturers of external HDDs honor their warranty. Nemesis
i feel i should point out that external drives aren't run nearly as much as internal ones are, so so what if the lifespan happens to be a year shorter for normal usage. it will probably still last quite some longer than your internal one anyway. spootnack
More GB = More porn HD movies. :D What are the specs of the HDD ? Which model ? Size / Form factor ? Speed ? Interface ? You want internal or external ? Anyway you can swap the HDD in the portable box if you want...
