Windows Firewall Control 3.3.0.2

Microsoft Windows have already built-in default, free and powerful firewalls, but unfortunately, they lack a simple interface to define own simple rules and can be difficult sometimes to configure them the right way. Windows Firewall Control is a nifty little application which extends the functionality of the Windows Firewall and provides quick access to the most frequent options of Windows Firewall. It runs in the system tray and allows user to control the native firewall easily without having to waste time by navigating to the specific part of the firewall. Windows Firewall Control offers four filtering modes which can be switched with just a mouse click. Registered Users can take advantage of learning Mode and password protection.

The Free version lacks the following:

1.Learning Mode, which displays notifications about blocked outgoing connections, with detailed information about these connections, and which permit the user to "Allow Always" or "Block Permanently" a program that was blocked by Windows Firewall. From version 3.0.1.2. this feature is available for all language localisation.

2.Lock the current configuration of the program with a password. Useful if you don't want other users to alter program settings. This will disable the access to the shortcut from Control Panel for Windows Firewall and the Management Console snap-in control file that provides additional administration capabilities for Windows Firewall.

3.Reset a forgotten password used to lock the current state of the program.

This program is made by BiniSoft. It does require activation to unlock all features. Unfortunately, this latest update requires all registered users to access their account online and generate a new license. There is a keygen available but it no longer works as of this version release. If I happen upon one, I will be sure to post it here.

Regards,

PocketAppZ

Edit: BiniSoft Windows Firewall Control does not work on XP.

Compatible with all 32bit and 64bit versions of Windows 8 Consumer Preview, Windows 7 and Windows Vista.

C'mon guys. For the more than likely thousands of dollars of "free" software you've gotten, you can't donate a measly $10 to an independant developer to give the app a shot?

@spudboy

I happen to have already donated to the software author. I have a great deal of respect for anyone who writes software, especially hidden gems such as this program. On the other hand, I also have a lot of respect for those who can backwards engineer these programs and make keygens, patches and other such fixes.

This program looks really useful, I hope we can find a fix for it soon.

This program is useful for Windows 8, because not many third party firewalls are working as yet and it helps give a level of control over the Windows Firewall, that is difficult to achieve otherwise...

However, once the Comodo firewall is updated, there will be no reason to use the standard Windows firewall any more.

And hey, something the developer might have forgotten, the Comodo firewall is for free!

How is its performance? :)

Its hard for new user and if you want to just install and forget it and don't want to manage application its ok but otherwise its :s

I will give it 2 points out of 10 in compare to sphinx firewall control

and if anybody ask me to use seperate firewall with av I will defiantly go with LookNstop firewall which one can get free from nsaneforum

Hard to begin with I'd agree, but so is most software that you have to learn...

Install and forget it I'd definitely take issue with, seems you have your security settings set too low?

3mb here. Using this without any av from last one month

Some people question the methods of these guys, but it is the main reference I've seen that people use.

Comodo has come out top the vast majority of the time I can remember.

The Bad

“Lock Application”, “Shell Integration” and “Learning Mode” are extra feature you need to pay for to unlock; this does not fit very well with the “donationware” label the developer is trying to promote.
