[OLD] ESET Fixes

So I have been using "ESS 7.0.302.0" with "box, mara-fix 1.7" since 16th of October.

But 5 days ago I started getting "Undocumented serious error (0x1106)" when trying to update.

I have tried clearing the update cache as suggested here:

but it didn't change anything.

Any ideas?

Seems like 18 days of uptime was the cause somehow.

Simple reboot fixed the problem.

Did you check again in Registry ?

After using Comodo for some time, i try to return to eset (and mara fix).

I have been using "ESS 7.0.302.5 FR" with "box, mara-fix 1.7" on Windows 7 x64 for a couple of months without problem.

But, since last week, "ekrn.exe*32" use 25 or 50% cpu after each update, and stay there.

no scanning, but it use cpu.

it's like eset is in an infinite loop updating the virus definition,each time now.

if i check the update page in ESS, it say version 9185.

if i check the log files, it say updated to version 9184 successfully at an earlier hour.

When this happen, pressing the button to do a manual update do nothing.

BUT...

if i unfix ESS with box-mara fix, i can do the manual update without problem. (and fix it again after it)

i try to clear the update cache.

i also try to repair eset install (after unfixing it).

no change.

maybe i need to completly uninstall ESS, and start fresh.

or try another fix.

But this trial reset was my favorite.

Does this happen to others?

A couple of minutes ago, the update just work ok.

ekrn.exe use no ressources, and the update tab and the logs both say version 9187.

So, when the update work, ekrn.exe use no cpu ressources...

i just return home.

since then, ESS did 2 more update without problem, and ekrn.exe use no cpu ressource.

so, i wait.

also, in advanced config, HIPS, memory scanner and exploit blocker are availaible (and enable)

so, i don't have the problem some have with the fix.

Since my last post, ESS got 5 virus definition update, without turning in a ressource hog.

So, maybe the problem corrected himself. (or eset server was causing it)

Try to install EAV/ESS offline (NET connection is OFF) and yow will see new option during configuring installation :

" Set Update Parameters Later " just check it and continue eset installation :)

Any one knows why MiNODLogin (ver 4) works fine for ESS 7 on my XP SP3, but not on Win 7 SP1 ?

I am getting Invalid username when trying to update.

And ESS blocks most of the websites when MiNODLogin is injecting key, it does not do that when on XP SP3.

Any suggestions will be appreciated.

Knightmare, is it true ESET Product Activator 2014 could activate for lifetime ESET?, I think it's impossible cause all keys are blacklisted sooner or later.

This activator is just a registry fix that doesn't technically activate ESET, it just does some registry fix to make it last forever. I didn't make it, so I can't explain it too well, but that's kind of the idea behind it. I will say that I'm using it now on ESET NOD32 v7 and it is working properly.
