Google clearly wants more people to try out its Google+ service as it still has to fight off suggestions that it is a "ghost town" compared with Facebook. Today Google released a 2.0 version of its Google+ app for Android for iOS devices on Apple's App Store that offers a revamped interface.
While the App Store listing for the Google+ app doesn't really go into detail on what's new, the official Google blog has some more information on what's changed and improved in the 2.0 version. For one thing, the UI now has "crisper fonts, larger profile pics and a friendlier homescreen". The stream has also been improved with new "overlays, gradients and other visual elements" for a better user experience.
The app also has placed important actions, such as the +1 button, on top of the app's stream, or rather those actions now "float atop the stream". Google+ conversations now "fall into view as you move forward and backward in time" in the new 2.0 version.
Google has already announced that the Android version of the Google+ app will also get a big update in a few weeks, along with "a few extra surprises". Sadly, there's no word on when or even if Windows Phone owners will get their own Google+ app.
