Administrator Lite Posted July 26, 2008 Administrator Share Posted July 26, 2008 Some of Sweden's largest internet service providers have made it clear that they would not support an agreement to combat file sharing similar to one recently reached in the UK.“We don’t want to act like police and feel that a system similar to that in the UK is a deep invasion of privacy," said Annika Kristersson of internet and telecommunications company Tele2 to the Svenska Dagbladet (SvD) newspaper."It would entail us having to spy on our customers."The comments come on the heels of an agreement reached by Britain’s six largest internet service providers (ISPs) to do more to combat internet piracy. The memorandum of understanding, which was brokered by the UK government at the urging of music industry association BPI, calls upon the signatories to work with music and other copyright holders towards a “significant reduction” in illegal filesharing.View: Original Article
voodoohippie
ATTENTION all MPAA/RIAA/any other anti file sharing groupYou have and have had the opportunity to take what you call a thorn in your side better known as File sharing and turn it around and make FREE file sharing a lucrative business model. it is called ad support or AEM (Ad Support Management). In case your vocabulary is at a second grade level or and I think its the latter of the two and the second is your too damned thick headed or retarded to understand unless you see a 50n Ft sign in front of your nose. It would either involve a 20-30 second ad before the song/Movie plays and for software/Games a scrolling Ad banner at the bottom of the application or game. If you want no ads you pay for the Movie/Song/Software. I'm not talking about resource hogging popup ware just some ads such as lawn mowing services, Pool supply places, Car dealerships in your area, restaurants, the list could go on and on. Heck Indiana Jones cave of the crystal skull could have scrolling ads above and below the picture you know the wide screen black bars? Lets just fill the blank black bars with scrolling ads similar to the ticker on CNN. The ads would pay the Movie/Music label/Game company. And again you want ad free, pay for the file you downloaded and the ads disappear. You could even burn the ad supported movie to DvD and you'd still see the ads unless you paid for the Movie. Everyone wins and the Internet does not have to become a police state. At least by allowing music to be sold as Mp3 files you've came a long way. However lets see you companies grow up and stop with the BS against file sharing. It will never stop and you have two choices. 1. Continue to act as a child while the hackers turn your enterprise into bankruptcy, or two grow up and turn your energy towards how you can make free file sharing a huge profit for the entire industry. Just as I've predicted in the early to mid 80's that long distance will have to become a flat rate service so too I'll be right in my prediction of ad supported files.
