uTorrent is an efficient and feature rich BitTorrent client for Windows sporting a very small footprint. It was designed to use as little cpu, memory and space as possible while offering all the functionality expected from advanced clients. With uTorrent, you can download files faster and contribute by sharing files and bandwidth. Additionally, uTorrent supports the Protocol Encryption joint specification (compatible with Azureus 2.4.0.0 and above, BitComet 0.63 and above) and peer exchange.

Thanks to thylacine for the update.

I don't know what's the point in rolling out a new version every other day if they're not gonna improve support for magnet links or add the anomos protocol.

Especially seeing as tpb has started it's shift away from torrent files keeping in mind both constant raids and cost constraints, the former would be exactly what most p2p users would pray for. Not being able to pick and choose individual files (patches, say) to download through utorrent (unlike bitcomet or Vuze, say) from magnet links is really annoying especially for large D/L's.

Also with increasing threat to net anonymity and FBI snooping (not to mention various law-enforcement agencies 'round the world), utorrent risks losing users to clients that do give them that slight peace of mind.

@calguyhunk: Though I've stopped using uTorrent some time ago, I heard that uTorrent has fixed the magnet links related problem on the stable version a week or two ago.

Too bad qBittorrent guys are a bit lazy in doing this. But qBittorrent fully utilizes my connection without slowing down my browsing so can't complain. :P

I'm using build 26773 and I can tell you that it still doesn't have full magnet link support

Yeah, maybe it's getting ever closer to the time of reckoning for my relationship with utorrent.

But kya karé?.... ♩ ♪ ♫ ♬ .... Breaking up is hard to do .... ♩ ♪ ♫ ♬ :P

:P

I think you are using a older version of uTorrent stable. Have a look again at the listing. Build 26837 is the newer version. :)

Thanks DKT. But the change I was looking for doesn't seem to have been incorporated. Cannot see it in the pipeline even. The changelogs for the forthcoming releases (current betas) don't seem to indicate that either. :(

Oh well ;)

I see. Well, as far as I remember I saw nothing mentioned in the changelog, but people on news sites kept saying that it was fixed. Even TPB gives some indications:

(Problems with magnets links are fixed by upgrading your torrent client!)

Yeah, methinks it just means that the newest version of utorrent will D/L you magnet link. That's 'bout it :P

Yup. qBittorrent. It's like half-cooked raw client. But the speeds are far more better - always seeding at full speed, unlike uTorrent's fail net optimization that only slows things down. Plus, it doesn't slow down my browsing, I use cFosSpeed but even that doesn't help with uTorrent these days. Also, in some matters it has more features than uTorrent. :)

I use cFosSpeed ...

Yeah, that helps, actually. Took it's own sweet time to get going, but when it did, really started noticing the difference. But most of my larger downloads are at night anyways, when I'm sleeping, so there's only so much it can do :P

Ah, thanks to both of you, time to check out qBittorrent.
