Marik
After several release candidates and many betas, the latest of popular open-source browser Firefox is ready for prime time. Firefox 3 is scheduled to launch this Tuesday, and they hope to set a world download record that same day. Notable new features include the Mozilla-dubbed Awesome Bar, which is a revamped URL bar, a new theme that automatically changes depending on your OS, Smart Bookmarks which show your most visited pages, tagging built-in to bookmarks, and the ability to download add-ons from the add-ons window. There are also many tweaks under the hood that most users won't notice, such as a new version of Gecko, the rendering engine, which is faster than in Firefox 2.here is a nice video with some of the wonderful new features on v3 ;) (thanks jfe) Source: Mozilla

Marik
Can you install over the top of your current v2?• Installing Firefox 2 in the same directory in which Firefox 3 has been installed may result in Firefox 2 being unstable (bug 423226)

shought
Can you install over the top of your current v2?• Installing Firefox 2 in the same directory in which Firefox 3 has been installed may result in Firefox 2 being unstable (bug 423226)You misread that marik :dunno: You can't install Firefox 2 again in the same directory where 3 has been installed. So you can in fact install version 3 over version 2, but if you go back to version 2 you will have to pick another directory.

spasserfan
Here are the local release times: http://tinyurl.com/4e7fv5If you have pledged you shouldn't download from the ftp link!Read this: ftp://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/firefox/releases/3.0/index.html The files in this directory are - for now - only meant to be used by our testers. Downloading them directly can harm our ability to distribute Firefox efficiently, and will also not be counted as part of our attempt to set a Guiness World Record for the most software downloads in a day. They only say "for now" meaning that if you download before the official release the download will not count, however if you download later it will be counted. But there is one good reason to download only from the download day HQ:How do I take part in the record? It's simple--just download Firefox 3 as soon as it is available, preferably from Download Day Headquarters. You'll get a customized certificate by downloading from Headquarters.I want that certificate :)
