Sumatra PDF is a slim, free, open-source PDF viewer for Windows.

Why another PDF reader?

  • Sumatra has a minimalistic design. Simplicity has a higher priority than a lot of features.
  • It's small and starts up very fast.
  • It's designed for portable use: it's just one file with no external dependencies so you can easily run it from external USB drive.

Changelog

  • Automatic reloading of changed PDFs (contributed by William Blum)
  • Tex integration (contributed by William Blum)
  • Updated icon for case-sensitivity selection in find (contributed by Sonke Tesch)
  • Language change is now a separate dialog instead of a menu
  • Remember more settings (like default view)
  • Automatic checks for new versions
  • Add command-line option -lang $lang
  • Add command-line option -print-dialog (contributed by Peter Astrand)
  • ESC or single mouse click hides selection
  • Fix showing boxes in table of contents tree
  • Translation updates

Already found those myself, but thanks anyway  Very light program, as said before. Thanks for the update :P

Btw: First two download links point to the same download server as published on their site, which is down. So you might want to remove them  Last one does work though, at least some of the mirrors do.

how does it compare to Foxit Reader?

Well, this is mostly for reading PDF's and not for editing them. Sumatra is smaller in size and runs a lot faster for me. I never edit any PDF's so Sumatra is perfect for me.

I'd never heard of this program until now. I've been using Foxit Reader for as long as I can remember.

Might have to give this a whirl, however saying that Foxit does run extremely fast for me on my PC, so I think the only thing that would sway me from changing is if the GUI was better looking, or noticible speed increase. Thanks for letting us know about it though :P
