Administrator Lite Posted May 29, 2008 Administrator Share Posted May 29, 2008 A $US1 billion copyright infringement lawsuit over YouTube's ability to keep copyrighted material off its popular video-sharing site threatens how hundreds of millions of people exchange all kinds of information on the internet, owner Google said. The company's lawyers made the claim in papers filed in US District Court in Manhattan as Google responded to Viacom's latest lawsuit alleging that the internet has led to "an explosion of copyright infringement" by YouTube and others. The back-and-forth between the companies has intensified since Viacom brought its lawsuit last year, saying it was owed damages for the unauthorised viewing of its programming from MTV, Comedy Central and other networks, including such hits as The Daily Show with Jon Stewart. In papers submitted to a judge late on Friday, Google said YouTube "goes far beyond its legal obligations in assisting content owners to protect their works."View: Original Article
voodoohippie
Next thing you know non metaphysical people will be sued for using common everyday words that are thrown around from the Hindu Sanskrit language such as Karma, Guru, Raja, and a few others. Can you imagine what would happen if the Maha Raja of India was as sinful and deceptive as must US companies? Heck we'd all be paying fines in the billions. Oh and what about that song played on Cenemax where anyone who is a part of Krishna consciousness like I am knows they've stolen that Hindu song and then said things such as "awaken your sences and see the inner beauty of the cinemax moment. Then in the back ground you hear "Jaya Shiva, Jaya Rama, Jaya Vishnue and then Shanti shanti OM... However I wish I knew what group did that song for my Hindu meditation purposes. But clearly that was piracy for I am sure no valid devotee of Krishna, Sita, Ram nor any shivite would allow that to happen without it being used to prey to our great creator. If the movie studio's can pirate without regard to us devotee's who practice the ancient Hindu ways dated more than thousands of years ago why should any citizen of any country, organization, creed respect their so called intellectual property. Its all just another deceitful way to pray upon the weak by those demonic minded US organizations such as the RIAA, MPAA. This is a serious note. I've thought very clearly about that when I was watching Cinemax and heard the rip-off of the ancient Hindu sanskrit language. Must US citizens don't have any idea what sanskrit is nor do they study it as I do.Jaya Sita Ram (all glories to Sita and Ram)Om Shanti (Clear your mind, peace)VoodoohippieNow you know where I got my handle. cooldude7273
I doubt it would hurt cut and paste. Cutting would mean that the original source would not have it any more and only the new location would have it. Copy and paste maybe. That I doubt too. Saying that is just a very big over generalization to get people riled up over this. Unless you can explain to me how this lawsuit is going to force Microsoft into removing the copy/cut and paste functions.
voodoohippie
One way they could force Microsoft to remove the Copy and Paste function would be to DRM certain websites like myspace so you can't cut from one's profile and paste it into your own without the code to which the creater of their blog or profile could decide rather or not to allow cut and paste. Think Windows Vista. Its all about the media giants taking away our rights. It doesn't just stop at copying music/music, it will slowly infect everything we say and do on and offline.
