The new Windows 8 logo has been making noise all over the Internet as some love and some hate the new design. New videos have been posted that show a bit about how the design was created.

The reaction to the new Windows 8 logo has been a mixed bag. As with the revamp of any classic logo, some will love the new look and others will resist change. The new logo and a few of the reasons behind the design have been posted up on vimeo (via Ed Bott) that give a different perspective on the new look.

While the videos may not win over the crowds yet, the transition video could show how Microsoft may advertise Windows 8, or at least end the commercials with this type of a transition.

After seeing the videos, does this change your perspective on the new logo? We don't expect the videos to be propaganda for the new logo but it does show what the designers were thinking when they crafted the Windows 8 design.

Still fails to stir my loins the way Vista did, on debut (maybe post-XP, expectations were too low & Vista visuals & graphics set too high a bar.)

in all honesty, there's too much focus on the boot screen / logo. shouldn't the focus be on providing consumers a more secure but user friendly work environment. all they have been focusing on is dumbing things down, making windows tablet friendly and all. when they have all those variations of a single version of windows, a home premium, a professional, an ultimate etc., they should have different interfaces and different ways people interact with their operating system for each flavor.

for example, they could keep the dumbed down look for home versions.

the professional could go back to the grassroots windows 2000/xp interface (yeah right like that's ever gonna happen)

and the ultimates should have the option (since they'd be paying more obviously - those that pay that is ;)) to be able to switch to whichever interface they want.

they could also have a gamer's edition which would have the least amount of unnecessary services loading up (I know - never happening) so as to provide the fastest gaming experience at bootup

just my $.02

They look nice, yeah... But indeed, you guys are right, don't waste too much time for this. Concentrate on making the OS even better than Windows 7 is. Don't make the same mistake. They shouldn't make the same mistake they did with Vista. The appearance isn't that important, it's the insides that counts, ;) :P
