Even criminal hackers want to protect their intellectual property, and they've come up with a method akin to copyrighting — with an appropriate dash of Internet thuggery thrown in.

Professional virus writers are now selling a suite of software on the Internet with an unusual attachment: a detailed licensing agreement that promises penalties for redistributing the malicious code without permission.

"I just kind of chuckled — it's kind of humorous," said Zulfikar Ramzan, senior principal security researcher with Symantec Corp.

I say what the computer users always have said 25 yrs ago in the Commodore 64/Amiga world have always said. "Copyright means copy it right the first time." I remember an anti piracy group back then called the SEA "Software Enforcement Agency. This organization was suppose to start suing those that cracked and or distributed illegal warez. This as most of you already know didn't work out. Now 25 yrs later they want to try and re invent the same ideas that failed in the Commodore 64 world. Give it all up. Copyright just does not work. Better come up with a painess solution. As far as the creativity in the Warez scene? The head crack masters of a release group never did tolerate lamerz comming along and taking their logo's off and redistributing them either without credit to the original crackers signature on the program in the first place. Plus many hate leaches. As far as copy right? You have it wrong. It doesn't mean that they don't want you to copy their works, but to the opposite analogy. Copy and share and if you don't you better fear us. This is the motto of the warez scene. Also in the warez scene 25 years ago if you were a narc, informant, someone who tried to infiltrate a group in order to gather knowledge to either stop it or to give it to another warez scene member not only faced brutal cyber and maybe physical beatings, but so too would their family members. I remember the tele trials held on illegal At&T alliance conferences where a meeting was held when someone in the organization was accused of being a narc or accused of trading their secrets. Even their parents, grand parents, girlfriends, ect would face harassment when you were accused of betrayal. But now its not quite that severe. However I'm glad to hear that it soon may become severe like that again although I don't know about picking on someone's girlfriend but you get the idea. It could teach the RIAA trolls a lesson they'll never ever in this lifetime forget and that is don't betray the scene for if you do you better have God himself at your right side.

Down with the sissy pants groups that don't punish the cowardly snitches. snitches get stitches that is the best motto yet.

These hackers just want some recognision.

They work hard so they can give you cracks, and it really sucks when someone steals it.

Go Pirates!
