Woman, 45, 'fired from snack food factory for wearing a prosthetic penis to work'

A woman claims she was fired from her job at a snack food factory for wearing a prosthetic penis to work while considering a sex change.

Pauline Davis, 45, of northeastern Pennsylvania is suing J&J Snack Foods Corporation for wrongful dismissal.

Ms Davis said she wore the attachment to the factory in Moosic, Lackawanna County where she worked as a line inspector.

She first filed a complaint in March 2010 with the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission office in Philadelphia, claiming gender and gender-identity discrimination, reports the Philadelphia Daily News.

She is seeking back pay, damages for suffering and humiliation, and punitive damages.

According to this week's lawsuit, she confided in her co-workers about her new addition who then passed the information onto management. She claims she was then consequently fired.

Her attorney, Lalena Turchi argued her fake penis was concealed and 'in no way interfered with her ability to do her job', reports the Daily News.

The suit also claims a male employee undergoing hormone treatments and female clothing was treated more favorably.

The New Jersey-based J&J company which manufactures soft pretzels, slushies, frozen pops, cookies and churros, did not immediately return a request for a comment on Friday.

The thought of a 45 year-old woman wearing a fake penis to work is obscene enough, I can't imagine what kind of trauma her co-workers must be in.

Not sure why she feels entitled to sue. After all, she wasn't hired to talk about fake penises at work.
