Tweety.Abd
NIS 2012...nis is always a front runner in the reviews. It doesn't like some patches or keygen but that's easy to override. Even since 2010 release, norton is easy of resources and less bloated. Yes I agree, Norton is much better than it was back in 2008. I use Norton in all of my home computers, except mine :P I'm currently using mcafee trial.

I've tried almost every AV out there like Kaspersky, Avast, Avira, Emsisosft, Panda, MSE, Vipre, Twister, Bitdefender, Norton and many more. The thing that made me revert back to Nod32 is that it never lets me down. I truly trust their signature base and protection more than any other company. Thats why I said I'm comfortable with it. The thing i like about NOD32 is the low resource usage, very few FP, small signature since most of their detection is on heuristics and cloud base (Threat Sense). marshall39
KIS is really good. I use Nod 32 on one of my computer and KIS on the second one and I can say both of them are winners.I don't notice any slowdown on the one running KIS , they are both well optimised.I don't even try any of the other vendors ;)

I'm using McAfee and it's been really good so far.

RadioActive
I tried/tested most known security suites out there and I decided on Avast, it offers a perfect blend of security, ease-of-use, customizability and small memory foot-print.And among all the suites I tested Avast was the only one that had a way of scanning encrypted e-mails (SSL/TLS), also ALL other suites I tested either caused problems with Connectify and ICS or required a lot of hassle. And for the record, here are some of the suites I tested recently: (ESET, Comodo, ZoneAlarm, eScan, BitDefender, AVG, Outpost, TrendMicro and a few others I can't recall at the moment). Thank you for sharing your experience :) About your scanning encrypted e-mail, did you try Kaspersky and Norton? I'd use Avast, but because I had hard time dealing with file exclusions, I had to replace it ultimately. I even tried disabling all the shields of Avast, but it still would get detected by Avast. I contacted Avast support, and they replied after a week, and by that time, I already had switched to other product.

Norton is blacklisted as far as I'm concerned, the sheer amount of false-positives and the fact it takes control over everything while allowing little to no modification of its behavior by the user was a deal breaker for me. I don't think it suites power users, who usually prefer more control/fine-tuning. As for Kaspersky, I haven't tried it recently, but last time I tried it I found it rather annoying with its excessive popups. Regarding the exclusion issue in Avast, I met that problem before but it was usually ok when I temporarily turned off the shields, but to be fair it rarely happens and it was almost always when dealing with "questionable" material/files (cracks, keygens...etc). I have Norton installed on all my home computers, because it least requires user intervention and provides an excellent protection at the same time, but I agree with you, it's not for power users or those who like to tweak the settings to their liking. I personally use Kaspersky on my computer, but I'd use Avast, if the exclusion thing was fixed. The best thing I liked about Avast was it's UI, choice in selecting components (without showing that it's not installed), and the voice-over ;) I agree with you, it happened with most of my keygens, cracks, etc. I turned off all the shields, but it still wouldn't work. My next thought was to run in safe mode and apply the fixes, but it was too late then because I had it uninstalled by the time I thought of it. I'm eyeing return to Avast sometime in the near future, but if the case is same with Avast 7, I'll have to switch again. About Kaspersky, what kind of pop-up did you refer to? I used to have lots of pop-ups too, but I configured it to notify me only when the issue is critical.

Right now, my main problem is Connectify (and ICS) since I rely on it heavily, because as I said earlier, ALL the suites I tested gave me problems running it except Avast which is has an amazing option in the Firewall called "Internet connection sharing mode" I just enabled it and voila! everything worked without having to do anything else.
