Tweety.Abd
Hey!So there's been lots of heating arguments as to which AntiVirus is the best in terms of protection, performance, etc. I wanted to know what AntiVirus do you use and why do you prefer it over the other vendors. I think it'd be helpful to us all while not having heated arguments. Thanks :)
Administrator DKT27 Posted January 9, 2012 Administrator Share Posted January 9, 2012 ESET, because it's light and I don't prefer trying new things when ESET does the job fine. :)
garry
Was using ESET (Nod32) version 5, not bad. Now trying Bitdefender. Not bad as well.Personally I think NOD32 version 4 is better than version 5.
Iznogoud
Avast Free, very good antivirus.Light, free (no need for cracking), and good protection. I am very satisfied. When testing suspicious programs I am use virtual machine.

HJSC
ESET, because it's light and I don't prefer trying new things when ESET does the job fine. :)I´d like to make his words mine. ;) Was using ESET (Nod32) version 5, not bad. Now trying Bitdefender. Not bad as well. Personally I think NOD32 version 4 is better than version 5.I also had a similar impression, garry. Maybe because I have not noticed any significant change in this version 5 of ESET AV. []'s
Tweety.Abd
ESET, because it's light and I don't prefer trying new things when ESET does the job fine. :) Could you please state which version of ESET you're using and whether it's an internet security suite, or just an anti-virus. Thanks. :) Was using ESET (Nod32) version 5, not bad. Now trying Bitdefender. Not bad as well. Personally I think NOD32 version 4 is better than version 5. Could you please state the reasons you think that NOD32 4 is better than 5? Just want to know the reasons as to why :) Avast Free, very good antivirus. Light, free (no need for cracking), and good protection. I am very satisfied. When testing suspicious programs I am use virtual machine. Since Avast free doesn't have a firewall, what firewall do you use? Eset NOD32 (hips off) with comodo firewall and defense+ really light on my system and no slowdown :) It'd be much lighter if you used ESET Smart Security; I'd like to know why you prefer to use Comodo firewall instead of ESET :)
fumia
well it because 1. easier to configure (comodo firewall) 2. awesome HIPS and use less ram than ESS with HIPS on 3. good detection, low FP and no slowdown :)

Kojootti
Avast Free, because it's efficient and low on resources.Online Armor Premium as a firewall, because I simply think it's the best.
Sands
ESET Smart Security 5. Why? It's light and I don't understand the significance of a firewall enough to go to Comodo, so ESET will have to do for me!
lazzser
ESS 5 or Avast Free + Windows Firewall, latest versions.I think ESS is the best antivirus available with a decent firewall, and Avast is pobably the best free antivirus. When I say "best" y mean best overall, considering detection rate, false positives rate, proactive protection, system resources impact, etc.
darko999
I use ESET Smart Security 5 and Emsisoft why? Well, ESET because it has a very good web filter Better than Emsisoft's one "DISABLED" and an awesome detection rate/Heuristics, and also its interface is simple and complete. Very Light.I also use Emsisoft for file access scan only, when a file isn't detected by ESET, when opening it I has a very good second chance, because of its very often updates and behavior shield "Which are uperior to ESET's and as well as ESET Emsisoft is very light "File access scan only".PD: There is a little test with both avs: http://vimeo.com/34360848
HATE9X
Used ESS for a loong time.. (from versions 3-5, before ESS used NOD32+different fws) Felt like trying out something new and KIS2012 has been running on my PC for about 2 months.. Liking it so far, much lower RAM usage than earlier versions of Kaspersky. Not sure whether I'll keep KIS or switch back to ESS, but I'm impressed with KIS atm. Iznogoud
Avast Free, very good antivirus. Light, free (no need for cracking), and good protection. I am very satisfied. When testing suspicious programs I am use virtual machine. Since Avast free doesn't have a firewall, what firewall do you use? I am using Comodo Firewall, but without Defense+ I need only basic programs control. EDIT: I forgot to mention. Suspicious files, like keygens, patch, cracked exe.... i first test on VirusTotal, or Jotti (in general searching by hash). And avoiding the use of such files on main system. (I am using free programs, or serial previously generated in virtual machine).
Administrator DKT27 Posted January 10, 2012 Administrator Share Posted January 10, 2012 ESET, because it's light and I don't prefer trying new things when ESET does the job fine. :) Could you please state which version of ESET you're using and whether it's an internet security suite, or just an anti-virus. Thanks. :) ESET SS 5. SS because, personally, I want a firewall to give me basic protection & to control my application. Firewall in ESET SS 5 is very good and efficient. It asks for all the applications when set at interactive mode - personally, seems better than Comodo when doing this. Also, it's fast to detect flooding attacks. The HIPS is set to auto and logs show it hasn't stopped anything so far.
morteza
NIS 2012+Avira 2012(without web protection+firewall)+webroot secure anyware+Key scramblerNIS 2012 is base core of my protection softwares because that is light and secure and more powerfull than every AV suit.Avira 2012 engine and proactive protection and its source decoding in malware anaysis is very good.Webroot secure anyware is very light and has a good database in the cloud.Key scrambler for keyloggers. :D This softwares with "Clean mem mini" only use 25% of my 4GB laptop's RAM. garry
I been testing the new Bitdefenfer 2012 Total Security. After a week, I have unistalled and re-installed ESET Int Sec 5. Bit deferender slowed my laptop down big time. It took almost 3 times the time to boot.I'm sticking with ESET 5 at the moment.

Maxhedroom
NIS 2012...nis is always a front runner in the reviews. It doesn't like some patches or keygen but that's easy to override. Even since 2010 release, norton is easy of resources and less bloated.
