A Chicagoland cop may find himself on the wrong side of the law after a woman says he used his badge to try to score a date.

Evangelina Paredes filed court papers last week accusing Stickney police Officer Chris Collins of violating her privacy when he used Department of Motor Vehicle records to locate her address — after he gave her a ticket for speeding, The Associated Press reported.

Paredes said she was shocked to find a note on her car in a parking lot next to her apartment in October from the smitten officer.

"It's Chris … that ugly bald Stickney cop who gave you a ticket," the note began, according to the AP. "I know this may seem crazy and you're probably right, but truth is I have not stopped thinking about you since. I don't expect a girl as attractive as you to ... even go for a guy like me, but I'm taking a shot anyways."

Collins added he'd understand if Paredes never called — but said he wanted to make it up to her for giving her a speeding ticket.

"I did cost you $132 — least I can do is buy you dinner."

Under "Rebecca's Law," the unauthorized use of DMV records is illegal, My Fox Chicago pointed out.

Paredes’ attorneys alleged in the suit that the Windy City resident felt violated by the note and was fearful that a policeman could stalk her.

"This is a single mother. This is someone who doesn't have someone in her home to protect her against an intruder. And in particular, an intruder who has the force of law behind him," Paredes' attorney Carlos Becerra told the TV station.

Collins told Fox Chicago he didn't mean any harm by the note. He just wanted a date.

"That's all it was," he said. "There was no bad intentions to it."

Yeah, right. She's just pissed for having to pay for the ticket. -.-

I wonder, if she's ever accused a guy of not being inventive enough?
