beer
A recent update to the Judiciary Committee’s list of top supporters for the controversial Stop Online Piracy Act, more commonly known as SOPA or “that horrible law in congress,” suggests that alliances may be shifting behind the scenes. The refreshed list shows that top game makers Nintendo, Sony, and EA have dropped their support the law.Of course, things might not be what they seem. In the case of Sony, for instance, their music and video companies still remain firmly on the SOPA support list. Only the game-making division, Sony Electronics, pulled its name. For Nintendo and EA, while their names are gone from the list, they are still members of the Entertainment Software Association, which is also still on the list. Sony is also a member of the ESA. This network of inter-relation makes it hard to figure out where, in some cases, companies stand. Also, simply taking their names off the list doesn’t necessarily indicate a change of heart for the companies. Perhaps the SOPA fight has become too polarized and too public for them to feel comfortable, or perhaps they found that the bill that emerged from the mark-up process was no longer attractive.Regardless, it’s interesting to see how the bill and the support for it is changing as it edges closer to a vote. You can read the whole list of SOPA supporters here, which is a truly odd assemblage of companies. Who knew that Estée Lauder Companies, L’Oreal, Revlon, True Religion Brand Jeans, and the Ultimate Fighting Championship were so concerned about Internet piracy!(source)Threaten to hit them in the pocket books and the power will return to the consumers.
beer
SOPA: Who's in and who's out? By now we're sure you're aware that SOPA is more than just a tomato-based noodle soup. The Stop Online Piracy Act's been stirring controversy with its intentions, and it'll most likely continue in this path until we hear a final decision. Go Daddy wasn't shy -- before retracting -- about its support for the bill, and things have changed drastically since we first heard some of the "top dogs" express their feelings. But who else is behind it, who's got your back, and who's had a change of heart? The answers await you after the break. The following are just a few that we believe you'll be interested in, but you can find the rest of the bunch at the source links below.OpponentsDisqusAOLeBayFacebookfoursquareGoogleGrooveSharkKickstarterMozillaPayPalWikipediaRedditSquareThe Huffington PostCraigslistLinkedInOpenDNSTumblrTwitterYahooZyngaDefectorsBusiness Software Alliance (Includes Apple, Microsoft, Adobe Systems, Intel and more)Electronic ArtsSony ElectronicsNintendoGo DaddySupportersABCBMICBSComcast/NBCUniversalDisney Publishing Worldwide, Inc.EMI Music PublishingEntertainment Software AssociationESPNMajor League BaseballMarvel Entertainment, LLCMasterCard WorldwideMotion Picture Association of AmericaNational Cable & Telecommunications Association National Football LeagueNews CorporationRandom HouseScholastic, Inc.Sony/ATV Music PublishingSony Music EntertainmentTime WarnerUniversal MusicUniversal Music Publishing GroupViacomVisa Inc.Warner Music Group(source)

myidisbb
well those selling physical products also have online websites. the news media ones want to kill yahoo and google types of news reporting. the sports ones want to kill any other guys that are stream sports. and media ones also want to kill youtube and other streaming ones too. its all about control. they will do it with legal proof or courts jsut as the CIE under this admin has been diong already. totally illegal. you all remember the canadian winter Olympia death by a player. what did they do? they used copy right excuse to pull any video of it online illegal. news is news. you cant copyright an important news subject that involves death. or other big news items. that be like russia invading china and all the news videos and reportings being pulled for copyright? no usa admin should ever has this power. especially with eric holder azz in there with one big azz mistake armerica.
