nsane.forums Posted December 23, 2011 Share Posted December 23, 2011 Samsung has announced that the Galaxy S smartphone and the original seven inch Galaxy Tab tablet will not be updated to Android 4.0. due to a lack of available RAM and ROM on the devices.Samsung has had a lot of sales success with the first Galaxy S smartphone and it released one of the first Android-based tablets with the first seven inch version of the Galaxy Tab. Unfortunately, people who own both products are going to have to be satisfied with the Android OS version they have installed on those devices.According to a post on Samsung's Korean web site, and later translated by The Verge, the Galaxy S and the Galaxy Tab simply don't have enough RAM and ROM in their hardware to accommodate the Android 4.0 update. The reason is that both have a lot of software programs that are already installed in the RAM and ROM memory, including things like the TouchWiz software, specific wireless carrier services, video calling software and more.This is obviously a big disappointment for owners of both products but sometimes you role the dice and take your chances when purchasing a smartphone or tablet hoping that someday there will be a big software upgrade. majithia23 Posted December 26, 2011 Share Posted December 26, 2011 Official Ice Cream Sandwich Android 4.0 has been released .and if you cannot receive OTA updates , that doesnt mean you cant have the latest Android running on your phone . !there are many well developed and better 4.0 ROMs out there to try out .Better than the official release ! and that too released way before then the Official one ...!Rooting ...!!! ;)@Leet ,Cyanogen will yet take some time to come up with its 4.0 version .before that you can try out other Flavors for the Ice Cream Sandwich .there are some quite nice and stable ones .....
