Marik
After the release of Vista SP1, the theme functionality totally died off. A new UX theme patch was required as the old one completely stopped working. Until now all the people who used Vista SP1 editions other than Ultimate and Home premium were left with no other theme than Microsoft’s plain not so good looking Vista Basic theme.Stop worrying, because a blogger named Rafael has released a UX theme patch that really works in Vista SP1, Although there were other patches released that needed a lot of tinkering as well as some of them needed you to press F8 and startup with other options which was quite annoying, this on the other hand does not need any of those, and works perfect. For those who still haven’t installed Vista Sp1 Get it from HereDownload the correct build of UX theme patch as shown belowDownload the UX theme patch from HereInstallation1. Login as administrator2. Goto %systemroot%\System323. Create a folder called UX Backup4. Copy and Paste the files uxtheme.dll, themeui.dll, and shsvcs.dll into that folder.5. Own the files called uxtheme.dll, themeui.dll, and shsvcs.dll.6. Replace the above files mentioned in step 6 with the patch files provided by Rafael• Use 6.0.6001.18000_XX.rar if you are using Vista Sp1 32-bit edition.• Use 6.0.6001.18000_AMD64_XX.rar if you are using Vista Sp1 64-bit edition.7. Thats all reboot. and enjoy.Extra Note: If step 5 doesn’t give you full access, Get BartPE and boot up using Bart PE live disc and continue from step 6.Another Note: Thanks to Tony Haskins for pointing this out.
