Marik
Now that Windows Vista SP1 has been released im sure you all are wondering when XP SP3 will make its appearance. Windows XP SP3 being the final Service Pack for the beloved Microsoft OS it will be a sad sight seeing the last major update to Windows XP. According to some notes Microsoft will release Windows XP SP3 on March 24th with the latest SP3 build being 5503 which some are now believing to be the final build since it passes WGA and downloads all available updates that previous SP3 builds have not been able to. But a Microsoft Spokesperson has said that XP SP3 5503 is only a interim build to fix a few bugs discovered in a previous release and is for the private beta testers. shought
I hope to see some performance improvements as they were noticed in the RC's of SP3!

MrVoice
I'm quivering in anticipation. I hope some people smarter than I will help out folks like me who take 2 hours to figure out how to streamline an SP onto a CD with the original OS. Perhaps we could be linking to some guides? Just my 2 cents, and thanks for this important news update.

SacredCultivator
Honest to say.. I am actually a nub to creating SlipStream's as well as hehe for SP2 I had a friend burn me a copy as I was too... 'nub'(Wasn't too good with PC's back then) to figure it out.. And still haven't...So adding to Mr.Voice, I'll take it another step.. Possibly when the Official SP3 comes out... It mightbe possible for someone who knows about slipstreaming too either create a copy and upload/ torrent (Or to link to a Torrent) it for us to download. So that we can just Burn it onto a CD and use it that way. alaindc
i hope the SP3 will be release next week, in french too.and, about slipstream, have you try nlite ?it's pretty easy to add a service pack, or even customise the way XP look, or turn off services you don't need.if you only want to add SP3 to the installation cd...you simply install nlite, open it.it will ask for your XP cd, and a folder to copy the files.then you choose to simply integrate a service pack, and nothing else, if you don't want to do other customisation to your XP.nlite will ask for the file(SP3), then integrate it, then ask to save the iso pretty easy, and if you decide to try to customise your XP cd, nlite ask first how you use your PC(internet, multimedia, etc), to be sure you don't delete things you need. here is a complete guide...nlite guideanother guide, older, in frenchnlite guide in frenchand...the nlite websitenlite website
SacredCultivator
@alaindc: Thanks for explaining that as i never really got hte hang of how to use nLite. In regards to the SP3 stuff, which can I mess with (Not have installed), wasn't successful with the Beta's so dunno what that had to offer but seeing the Changelog for nLite they mention a few SP3 stuff.---More or less nLite does offer a lot of tweaks and whatnot which I can definitely benefit from.---EDIT:Just sort of pre-setting up nLite...Is it safe to remove the languages I don't use under Languages/Keyboard? (Not too sure how that part works)

alaindc
also...before doing our XP sp3 cd, it may be a good thing to check the nlite forum, to be sure the SP3 final will integrate correctly with nlite without any bugs (nlite released a new version for the last sp3 beta to correct a bug). if there is a problem, i'm sure a new version will be released pretty fast. alaindc
i don't know if it's true...since it's inquirer stuff, but...SP3 in April?RECALCITRANT users refusing to get with the programme and move to the brave new world of Vista will be heartened to learn that Service Pack Three for the wizened and wrinkly Windows XP hits the newsstands in April.TechARP reports that SP3 will appear in two waves, with the Simplified Chinese, English, French, German, Japanese, Korean, and Spanish versions appearing in the last two weeks of April and all other variants following three weeks later. There won't be an integrated SP3 release for Windows XP Media Center Edition or Windows XP Tablet Edition, meaning users will have to buy an old version and apply the service pack later.SP3 is almost certainly the proverbial it for XP - the OS drops off the reseller and retail list at the end of June and boards the train for the gulag on January 31st next year when system builders will no longer be able to get hold of it. µ
