I've noticed that one some of the new IDM links that they don't actually download anything, but today are instead taking us back to the main page. It might be something to check on. Is it happening for anyone else?

Okay. So you checked. Thanks.

Definitely something must be wrong with my computer, ill test it from another location soon.

What happens is... when i click on any download that uses the redirect service, it doesnt download anything, but rather takes my page back to the front page again, no errors, no fuss, but no download. I thought it was a problem with the site. Obviously not.

I couldn't get the bottom download for spyware doc, nor the bottom link for the new nero. It also failed for the bottom link of game jackel. And yes that image posted above, are thet links im speaking of.

If anyone has any thoughts, id be appreciative! Thanks.

With what browser are you trying to download? And what add-ons are present? Also name any installed download manager(s).

Firefox 2.0.0.12 with only download statusbar latest version add-on applied. It has always worked before. But not now.

However, i have been researching my computer lately, and this may have nothing to do with it, but i have Windows Updates waiting to download stuck at 0%, and I have a Java Update that wont install when i click install. And I try to open Windows Update, and it fails. But all this stuff might be a totally separate issue.

Update:

Its Saturday morning, and I am back on the computer to try to figure out the problem so i can download from nsane, which appears to be the only site that behaves in that way for me.

However, as i have been double checking everything, the windows download issue that i spoke of above... that has plaguged me all week, somehow has disappeared, and now behaves 100% properly. Also the Java issue is also completely eliminated and working properly.

However, I also have verified that when I go into Safe Mode with Networking... i have no connectivity to the net. It just fails. I already checked the firewall, and in regular mode, completely disabled the firewall for a minute to test the proxy.php and it still fails in the same behavior. So thats not it.

Sometimes even the crack serials links are down

Yes. I originally thought it was the site proxy that was broken, but others have said they can use it fine. So now i believe that something has either infected or corrupted something on my system, since both IE and FF cause the same behavior of an immediate redirect back to the main site home page (listing of files) when any proxy.php link is clicked. Perhaps its some issue with that php. Someone with more knowledge than me would have to weigh in on that though.

So the proxy.php links for patches and keygens is working for everyone else? No one is having failures downloading just those links but me?

Its frustrating. Mostly its annoying because I have no clue what is wrong, nor how to fix it. Direct links work just fine. And anom teleport links also work perfectly for downloads. Its just the proxy.php that take me back to the main www.nsanedown.com webpage (without error or delay) instead of download the files.

If no one has any other ideas, ill hate it, but i may just have to reformat and reinstall. Its not one browser, its both IE and FF - same behavior, same result. Only started recently, since i posted this thread. Any ideas? Things to try?

Is it possible that the nsane proxy is rejecting my ip address? Perhaps it got stuck in some batch of disallowed ips or something.

I suppose the easiest way to test this theory, is to bring in another computer and plug it into the DSL and see what happens.

Have you tried uninstalling FF/IE and then uninstalling any download manager or something of that kind? Maybe try uninstalling some add-ons/plugins too.

That is a great idea. I'm a little leary of how to uninstall IE 6 and get it back in again. But ill do a web search on that. Removing and reinstalling FF is simple so ill do that tonight when i get home. And i DO have a download manager sorta... just one... its the AddOn to FF called Download Statusbar. Its not really supposed to manage, but maybe it is. I'll begin by removing IT, rebooting, and trying things out. Then ill go to the browsers. Thanks for the suggestion.

Originally yes, but I wanted to try out things from Nero to Spyware Doctor's latest versions. And a few others that scrolled off the list already. (I wish there was a way to see an extended list, in order, of the last 100 or 200 added. Oh well.)

So yeah... its all of them that do this. And IDM was just the first one i noticed it on.

The Proxy blocks IPs requesting the same file more than once in 45 minutes (and displays a message accordingly). All IP blocks are removed after a hour (except those causing constant problems.... yours is not one of them).

The error is something at your end. The proxy system is pretty stable at the moment.

Thank you Lite for checking all this out. Im very happy to hear the stability of the system. And i have seen that message that hit me when i tried to download the same file by accident. I'm grateful im not in the block list.

So there is an error with my system. I just tried another computer on my Internet and it works fine. So nsane's proxy links are failing because of some unknown problem with my computer, and im going to spend the next while trying to figure out what.

Any ideas are welcome. Thanks.

It will be something to do with how your browser is setup specific MIME types.

Try downloading a web broswer you have not used before (like Opera) and trying the links with that.

Actually.... i recall having some .net framework problem in the near past.

Could you tell me how to verify what version is installed? And how to tell if it is fully functional? Perhaps some kind of test, or running certain software that will function properly if its ok.

I run Windows 2000. And I have .Net Framework 1.1 and the hotfix for it, both showing in my Add/Remove Windows. I believe there was some corruption of .Net Framework 2.0 and i had to uninstall it... but it wouldnt reinstall, and i finally gave up after a week. I know this isnt much to go on.... but perhaps youd know why 2.0 wouldnt install or how to force it, if needed?

Thank you for asking this question. I appreciate you guys here and your insights.

EDIT: I just downloaded and attempted to install .Net Framework 2.0 again, and the attached error is what happens. And i read here: http://support.microsoft.com/KB/906894 that my computer still thinks it has .Net Framework 2.0 Service Pack 1 installed, even though it does not show in Add/Remove Programs. Is there some other way to find out where or how it believes this, and remove it?

EDIT2: I just successfully installed .Net FrameWork 2.0 Service Pack 1, and rebooted. Nsane proxy downloads did not work even then. Add/Remove Programs Windows would only partially open. I uninstalled this update using CCleaner Uninstall. Rebooted, and Add/Remove Programs Window still wont open now. I ran some commands that should fix it. When I reboot, i hope it will work, it should. I'm attempted to install .Net FrameWork 2.0 original again (since service pack 1 was removed) and it failed again with the same error as before. So im back to square one on this topic. Any ideas?

It will be something to do with how your browser is setup specific MIME types.

I just downloaded the latest version of Opera and it installed without no problem. I attempted to download from a proxy.php link on nsane, and once again, it failed with the exact same behavior as firefox and internet explorer, bringing me back to the main nsanedown.com page without error or downloading the file at all.

With 3 browsers failing in the same way, it may be with browser setup, but i haven't been able to draw that conclusion yet.

I'm not too familiar with MIME types, but i can do some web searching and learn about it. I'll do that tonight, but if you have some further suggestions on that, id appreciate your insights. Thanks.
