New Enhancements on Vista SP1 RTM

After Installing the New Vista SP1 Full, you begin to notice some new enhancements in the aspects of performance, responsiveness, stability of the system and most importantly Internet browsing and download speeds.

Performance:

The new RTM edition of the SP1 takes performance to the next level. Your PC starts to be much more like the days of XP and even faster, the old sluggishness of vista has gone completely. Now its a new kind of beast, fast and agile.

Superfetch:

In vista most users found superfetch to be a real nuisance, because it was thrashing the hard drives all day long until they overheated and ceased or burned, so most blogs including us, released methods to disable superfetch permanently or to re-tune it for specific task only, but this becomes unnecessary as the new superfetch does everything properly, it only optimizes your system when the system is idle, and there is very less hard drive thrashing. So overall the new fixes and enhancements on superfetch is very good and much better to use on a daily basis.

Improved Startup and Shutdown:

The next thing you see after installation of the new sp1 is that the startup of startup applications takes very less time compared to the vista 6000 build. And also the shutdown is much cleverer and faster too.

Improved Responsiveness and Stability:

Now System crashes are a history, the programs load much faster (thanks to the new enhanced superfetch) and very rarely or never crash at all.

Internet Browsing:

TCP/IP Auto Tuning Fixed:

Another issue a lot of people had with the 6000 build was the TCP/IP auto tuning which automatically restricts bandwidth according to the need of an application. This made a lot of people hate the build 6000 because the Internet was terribly slow for some browsers like Opera and FireFox, and created problems with P2P programs and download managers. Therefore a lot of blogs including us, released methods to disable TCP/IP auto tuning. But this will be not necessary for the new sp1 because the new TCP/IP auto tuning functions perfectly, this is how its supposed to be, and Microsoft has finally made it correct, its more than correct, the new TCP/IP auto tuning works brilliantly with all the apps.

TCP/IP Max Half-Open Connections Limit Removed:

Another best thing in the new sp1 is (this was done in early development during sp1 beta preview) that you don’t need to look here and there for utilities to patch the TCP/IP max half-open connections, now its set to maximum and not 10. Which makes life a lot easier for people who looked everywhere to patch the limit in build 6000.

So all in all this is one of the best things Microsoft has ever done, and we welcome it gladly and we urge Microsoft to release the public download-able version ASAP. Excellent things should not be delayed…

im using 32bit vista ...recommend stick with xp.....still not smooth

waiting for my new motherboard and chip and once i get them ill be using xp pro for long time..

Installed the MSDN build at a neighbour today, seems to work pretty smooth.
