i'm not liking this new version so much, just two facebook tabs open of which one was idle and uploading pics in the other tab and i was seeing mem usage of 750 MB - and this with a freshly installed xpsp3 pc, fresh opera install, no addons or anything of the sort. needless to say i immediately jumped over to chrome

Strange. I have 20 tabs or so open, mail, newsfeeeds... 988 MB. Used to have just 500-600 MB for this kind of workload. Maybe there's a memory problem in 11.52.

Hm, that's strange. Is this really a bug? How about limited the memory cache lower than 100MB (Preference | History | Memory Cache)? Is Opera still used a lots of memory?

I don't really have time to experiment and also don't want smaller RAM caches (worse performance), but what I can say is that 11.52 is definitely eating a few hundred MBs more in my PC, compared to 11.51. Credits to johndoe for noticing this, I had no idea, don't really check Opera's RAM usage, since it already is the memory sink of my system, always 500 MB or more due to many tabs open/email/RSS M2 client. I'm sure somebody with less RAM will report the bug and they'll plug it really soon.

opera has always been lighter on resources (compared to the other slugs) thats why it was very prominent cuz my system had slowed down to a crawl (it does have 2GB memory). it's really very sloppy of the developers to release a version with this big of a memory leak
