Zap316
Hey guys, I just tried out a cool program that another member posted a few days ago. Its called Slim Drivers (It is a Microsoft Gold Certified Partner) they have a Free edition and a Paid edition the only difference between the 2 is Pro does automated updating, they are NO spyware ad ware and virus free. I really would like to see this on the front page instead of Driver Genius since many of us have had problems with Driver genius and its false updates to drivers that don't exist examples are Broad com and N force.download from driverupdate.net/
JunkInternetMail
Please don't get rid of Driver Genius for some magical new software that very few people have tested...Driver Genius cracks/fixes have always worked for me and who gives 1 shit if a driver claims there's an update and it's invalid for your configuration? That's one less driver to concern yourself with. There's room for more than 1 driver application but by God please keep Driver Genius...
Zap316
Dude the fact is, incorrect drivers can harm your system and no its not one less driver to worry about, all drivers serve their purpose in a OS. Everyone keep complaining about driver genius my idea is to just get rid of it and save our selves some time. If you have a driver update program that provides false info compare to those listed at driverpacks.net and trust me driver packs gets their crap right. Then it can be harmful to your computer plus due to the fact the program hasn't been updated in 5 months it shows me alot, I used to stand by driver genius because i once did like it but not anymore. Serials Black listed and the darn site mods wont update the the software listing with the working crack so. I dont know, Im just trying to figure out a better solution Im sick of the forum being crowded with post about the driver genius serial not working well if they arent gonna update the listing with a crack then lets find a new piece of software. Guest mayeray
i hated driver genius. Their programs never installed the correct Ethernet driver (intel) and other drivers. It always done a shitty job and i've been using actually slim drivers and its alright. A LOT better then driver genius
avmad
I've found Slim Drivers to be pretty inaccurate compared to Driver Genius and Driver Magician. They all get them wrong sometimes but Slim seems worse than others.
Zap316
Thank you mayeray, I just got to say that, if a company earns certified gold partner from Microsoft and cnet awards look at the reviews on cnet and they will tell you. Driver genius don't have any of that. Driver Genius has potential but I have a computer myself with a 64 bit processor i7 and a 32 bit card reader and I actually have to go into driver genius and change the OS selection from update drivers screen. to just find out that their are a whole bunch of new drivers to install its not correct at all. not even close. The program has got potential but it sure doesn't seem like they care about it much over at driver soft------------------I dont know avmad to be honest with you, I just want to find a good program for updating drivers. Cracked or free I dont care, I just hate driver genius but I see your point I just havent had a problem with Slim drivers yet.
avmad
I don't think gold partners is even supposed to be used nowdays. I wouldn't trust anything that shows it.

Pedrito
I tested and use SlimDrivers, and compared to other programs of this kind it's the one that gave me the more accurate results.
shought
This is different for each and every one of you.The only reason we listed Driver Genius was because it was quite popular, but to be honest most of us would never advise using a program like this. They can really mess up your system and are never 100% accurate.Btw: Microsoft Gold Partner is just a certificate people either use without having the right to do so to fool potential customers or who have paid for it (gaining the right to use it) in order to fool potential customers. Microsoft Gold Partner is really worth shit, there's loads of crappy applications that have this icon on their page (this is not a rant against you, it's a rant against Microsoft Gold Partner :P). Zap316
Thanks for your insight shought I just wish there was a decent program out there, without having to go to site after site looking for the latest drivers alot of these companies now dont even post drivers on their sites anymore. JunkInternetMail
I don't know how you guys own computers and can possibly think driver genius ever installs a driver NOT made for your computer...The installers are from the OEMs and have OS and version detection...if it guesses there's an update and it's wrong the goddamn installer tells you. This guy clearly believes in driverpacks so why use a program? Just use RSS on driverpacks.net. If you're a professional or a guru you know how to use software that's perfect or flawed to your advantage. These shannigans of promoting the new app seems like an inside job to me... emil47
I really like Driver Genius. I am not an expert, but I trust it more than other solutions, like "Uniblue Driver Scanner" , "DriverMax" or "Driver Detective". Anyway, I'd like to see more opinions on this subject. Guest Sicker
I say go with Driver Magician it just detected drivers that driver genius missed intel inf driver, a updated intel graphics card driver, and a modem driver, plus core always cracks it. purposely leave uninstalled drivers on your system and run both driver genius and driver magician and magician will win hands down. stratocaster009
i prefer downloading the drivers from the manufacturer's site. :)
HX1
Well most definitely.. you know even back when I usually woudl turn around and find them there to download.. All fine until you become 'UNSUPPORTED' which really given the time period.. :rolleyes:Driver Genius is good for checking on them... Windows 7 s good about getting them and hving them run correctly... LOL.. with anoccassional optional rollback.. :P
