web downloads

Hi ppl

I am having really crappy downloads when I use uT and eMule

It is mainly because of the ISP and there throttleing techniques

so I have to resort to web downloads mostly from FTP servers as this way I can get decent download rates

Im looking for good movie sites also with tv stuff as well

so please make a suggestion ;)

some I already use

redcurtainmovies.com

stage6.com

Much appreciated for your links

I find a lot of good sites by googling: "Title" rapidshare.com .rar .001 .zip

At my current local the ISP filters .rar so I just take that out. If you can afford it rapidshare can be a great investment, I paid a few bucks for it two years ago but I upload so much that Ive sustained enough points to not pay for it since.

Other than that I would get off P2P and get on IRC, make some friends with your shares and then you can get the good stuff, and get it a whole lot sooner than anyone else.

To check for current releases (what is out there) check out: vcdquality.com, http://doopes.com/index.php, and there is another one that is out there too that I cant think of at the moment though.

Another option is to use newsgroups.

Thanks for the quick replys ppl

When I use uT and eMule I use the encryption options within both of these programs and have done since

I first started using them

Its just that I noticed over the last six months that my web downloads were far quicker than anything else

for instance uT and eMule would go up to about 150 -200kb at the most Yet nearly every web download would go upto 550 -650kb before this I never really downloaded using http

I have considered moving to another ISP but here in Eire we have only one big player and even the other ISPs have to go through our national ISP

I will have to upgrade my goooooogleee skills!!!

any more IRC tips? irefay

again thanks

Bolt_Gundam510 has a very informative post about the scene in general, it provides good baseline info that you will need when you join a channel.

Sam has a post about MIRC, the chat client that you will most likely want to use

http://://www.nsaneforums.com/index.php?showt...427&hl=chat

Tomez started a thred about it:

Tutorials about MIRC:

Tutorial on Fire Sharing:

Video Tutorial:

Its probably best to point out that IRC does have a little bit of a learning curve, you will spend the first week or so learning how to use MIRC and making some friends before you get invited into any halfway decent channels. I would highly recommend offering to share any thing you have. You make friends that way and you don't come off as a leecher.

good info good job :D

Excellent stuff :D I will spend some time reading up on this and I have installed the mirc program

There are loads and loads of irc chat rooms and its a bit intimatating at the mo. but thats ok!!!

ive started to only go into rooms with a few people as its hard to keepup when there are 50 or 100 ppl in one room!!!

Im not at work this week so I will be an irc junkie for the next few days!!!

Thanks again to all
