... I tried running it for a while but always had problems with the updater and saw no noticeable difference from the x86 version anyhow.

not depends on browser

whether you have 64 bit browser or not

and you are running 64 bit windows you should install 64 bit

64 bit includes 32 bit plugin and active_x

if your browser is 32 bit only and running 64 bit of windows... it also increase the speed of browsing up flash content on the web

FF 64bit has been around since version 4 nightly IIRC also they are as stable as any other alpha/beta build but work only on 64bit OS & need 64bit plugins i.e. java, silverlight, flash etc. That's the only difference plus the addons work normally besides 64bit FF may well be faster than 32bit FF on 32/64 bit OS !

No last I checked you had to separately install 64 bit versions of flash, silverlight & java as well. Just to make sure open 64bit IE & check to see all the loaded addons under settings to confirm this.

try to uninstall your adobe flash player 11 both plugin and active x

and go here : ADOBE FLASH PLAYER DOWNLOAD SITE

you will notice a note

saying

"64bit version of adobe flash player also include the 32 bit" version!!!!!!

also LOOK at the FILE SIZE

adobe flash player (64bit) was 7.80 megabytes (cos it includes 32bit

adobe flash player (32bit) was only 3.62 megabytes

The situation might have changed with the final version but probably till flash 11 RC that wasn't the case(tried with sandboxie to confirm), anyways you'll have to install java & silverlight 5 RC(32/64 bit versions) separately !
